Hi all
Anyone know what diameter a Nardi steering wheel is and how it compares to standard?
At the moment if the stage has a lot of tight and twisty i have to use a std wheel to make it easier to move from lock to lock.
On faster more flowing stages i use a momo wheel which is about 2" smaller. I'd love to try something in between.
Anyone got one for sale or loan?
other alternative is to try and fit electric power steering off a Nova / Corsa. Anyone done that?

Re: Nardi steering wheel
I have one but can't really loan it out as it's on the car! I can send you a few pictures if that would be helpful?

Hi Welshy.
If you could measure the outside diameter that would be great thanks.
At least then I would know if it was a size worth trying or not
Thanks rsfruitbat

Sure, I'll get out to the car over the weekend

Re: Nardi steering wheel
Hi, I think Welshy can confirm outside diameter of Nardi steering wheel
(I mean the particular type was optional on alfa 33 16v) is 360mm,
it is a bit more than standard 350mm (or less) generic sport steering wheel,
and smaller than 380mm standard alfa 33 steering wheel;
I think that 40-50mm longer than standard steering hub + 360mm steering wheel
is a perfect size on 33.
I only read some treads about hybrid power steering oil/electrical conversion,
using an original power steering rack, removing mechanical oil pump
and fitting an electrical oil pump from some old opel or peugeot,
old car electrical oil pump have very simplified electrical connections,
they can run without particular electronic signal, and are compatible
with the pressure range in alfa 33 power steering rack (about 86 ATM),
and some opel pump have the reservoir integrated in the pump;
you ll' probably need a minimum 65A alternator (or better go for 85A
from alfa 145 boxer), and still have some gain in less power loss respect using
mechanical pump, but you can have some noise from the electrical pump, some are
noisier than others, they need to be mounted in the car with vibration/insulator brackets.
If instead you do a completely electrical conversion (no oil and pump at all)
I think you have to use some decent one, because some of the electrical
power steering lacks the sensibility of classic hydraulic power steering rack.
