agree that the core plug change at this point is a crucial thing to do. a few quid and you know they'll last another 20 years ;)

Hi,

Does anyone know what's the best starter motor to buy? I want to get a more powerful ignition, any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

if I have a weak starter I prefer to take to my local auto electricans and they overhaul them for me, a much better way of knowing it's right.
usually around £50 to get them rebuilt I find.

Agreed, and probably a better idea than the alternative starters, they're shouldn't be any issues starting our little motors when they are operating as they should.

I'd then spend the money on as big a battery as possible for more (CCA) Cranking Amps, and improve all related cables, grounds and connections to as big as practical! :D

For example, the bls race 33, almost a 2.0l high compression motor manages to start from a rather pitiful sized race battery, but its quality connections and cables ensure that every critical single volt and amp makes it to the starter and ignition circuit, and voila! :P
