It looks like it has good potential.
Like the wheels as well. :D
Be good if one of the CAF members buy it and we can follow the thread. :P

Welcome to the forum all I can suggest is take your time when you do it.
Ask questions on here if you get stuck because there are lots of people on here who have restored their cars and can give helpful advice.
Lastly just enjoy doing it :)

As a new member, I am sure you will spend ages looking through some of the threads on here, as I did.
As Pat says, any questions just ask.
Gary is doing a full resto on a tix if that is your plan, or will you build a special or track car?
Keep us all posted. :D

Don't worry Keith, it was the shade of orange i was first showed that concerned me, but thankfully, using your own as the swatch, i think i'm steering him to a proper Orange! :D

What is your code by the way Keith?

Hand holding eh, is that what i was doing? lol!

Yes, it was me that had to snipe in there with a couple of seconds to go, after Scott, my real world bezzy lost phone signal at work, so my ebay account bought it, he paid for it, and today we fetched it and the plethora of spares and parts.

It may be a little while before the work starts in earnest, but you've waited 20+ years already, whats a few months! lol! :D

Very interesting Classic Car Hire place that it came from, Great Car Escapes was it?

Graham the seller does indeed have a lovely S3 Ti of his own too, but his company let out all manners of retro and classic cars to the public and TV film crews, most notably and recently the cars used on that "celebrity"
antiques programme?

Hey Shrew !!,
I don't want to crash the thread but I think that guy (classic car hire ) has seen my car during the build up. If it is the same company, (I know they had a Sud, hence the interest in mine) They hired their Aston out and this is what happened to it. Perhaps I shouldn't put this up. :? Don't know what happened to it .It was taken away from us. Edit if you wish....

My colour code is AR 531 Corallo Torre De Greco.

Not sure how long it ran for but the book said it was launched in 1975.

Ok so this obviously wasn't the one I saw on Ebay which was really a bit of a mess.
Looks pretty cool - well done

Not to be on a "downer" did you make sure it stated "TIX"on the log book ?
Even if it doesn't as long as it's the right year and has the right badges and extra "bits" you could still go to the DVLA / alfaromeo to get it registered as one

I don't think it's worth more than a green cloverleaf or a Ti but welcome to the "club" :D

I'm not sure what it is if i'm honest, but plenty of X kit bits included in the haul.

It says Ti in the logbook iirc, but that wouldn't be out of the ordinary either, many cars get registered whilst in a showroom, and then extra's and spec'd up according to the buying customers wishes, so its rarely to be relied upon in my opinion.

Anyway, all that aside, it really isn't going to make much difference, as the current idea's behind it aren't to rebuild it as a concourse TiX anyway, but more of a subtly modified, possible nod to rally, type of car, maybe trofeo, maybe not.

My own influence has nothing to do with it i promise! :D

But Scott is liking the sound and look of a modified track/road car, utilising the cage it came with, 2 seats only, lightened a bit, and eventually a warm engine. Painted a fairly vivid and bright colour, carlos fandango wheels and a brace of Cibie Day-Lighters!

Sounds like i have influenced hi afterall! lol!

It was my car and very pleased it went to Scott. Really nice to meet you both. You're right about the TiX bits and welding. It appears to have been one pf the TiXs that went back to a dealer to be upgraded, you could choose what spec you wanted.
I'm with team Orange Paint by the way.

Hi, yes that's me. Wish I hadn't had to see that Aston again though! It was a while ago (about 2011 I think). Idiot hirer jack knifed it on a dual carriageway at 40 mph by hitting the brake thinking it was the clutch. Hit the armco and a street lamp, hence the damage. He was very lucky, no passenger thankfully. Shows you how weak these cars are. Chassis has been restored and is back on the road.

Hello Graham,

Glad you've joined up, and great to see your Ti in the other thread too, excellent to have another in there.

Another vote for Tango TiX aswell, Scott will be chuffed!

Good to meet you and see the business too Graham, fantastic, but the Aston shows its not always plain sailing too, awful time im sure, but at least noone hurt, although i think I'd have caused an injury or two! Ha ha! :D

Orange is a great colour for a Sud, I was planning an orange sud before the white sprint appeared. Funnily enough I'm not stuck on an orange for a sprint.
