My first ever garage
Tired of wasting my time moving tools and parts from my house to a local garage so I could get some work done.
Too many projects piled up, not so many hours available to faff about earning nothing.
The last year, I've been working at my uncles Body repair shop, using up a corner with a lift which was greatly appreciated, with the agreement that I would help him out as well on the mechanical stuff of his customers cars that went in for body repairs after an accident.
This was both good and bad.
First, when there were cars of his own in, then my schedule was messed up and delayed, then everytime I took a car there to work on, I had to move 5,6 other cars at least, just so that I could get inside the hangar, put the car on the lift, and then start to work. In addition, at the end of the day, I either had to get the car back on the trailer and take it back home, or move cars again to make way to get it out if it was done.
The plus side was that I didnt have to pay rent, and I could make as much noise as I wished, bothering nobody.
However, this got tiring and inefficient. I only have 2 afternoons per week to work till very late and a full Saturday, so it all came to the point where I was either gonna give up on my second job, or take it more seriously.
So I went for the second option.
Found a warehouse in an industrial area to suit my needs, and rented it out.
Still in the process of moving cars and parts and tools to it, but its slowly getting there

And this will become my special room for rebuilding engines and having all my tools neatly hanging on the wall

Re: My first ever garage
I know its all a big mess at the moment, but moving and getting sorted is no easy job :/
At least between moving stuff and tools, I also got 2 cars finished and delivered
Now .... Looking for a name for the garage ... Anyone (except Shrew) got any ideas ?
My work is all about servicing/recommissioning old Alfas (mostly)

Puts my paltry garage to shame, that does!
Nice selection of cars too, is that a Honda S800 I see there? Roller bearing crank and 9,000 rpm redline? I like your style!

Re: My first ever garage
thanks guys
I'm still in the process of taking cars up and sorting out the parts. Still got a few of mine to take, like my Busso GTV and my racing Sprint.
Lauren, you are absolutely right about the S800. I have 2 of those plus 2 for spares. The brown one is my dads which I'll restore at some point. The rusty one is mine, metal work all done, but got stuck on the engine gaskets and piston rings for which I'll need to figure out what to do. The chassis is finished and painted, I just sat the body on to roll it in.
Lots of cars will come out of this garage. Things will move fast !

How about "Alfa of Corse!" for the name......

Re: My first ever garage
A name is easy, just use one of the most common Italian words in use world wide, no, not Pizza!
Ciao as in `Classic Italian and Others.' Good luck what ever you use.
Starting any new business is always tricky
