RAC rally 2023
Morning all.
Been out marshalling on the RogerAlbert Clark rally since last wednesday.
This is a classic rally following a similar format to the Lombard RAC rallies of the 70's and 80's. It does allow more modern cars but entry mainly made up of period cars or earlier. This year in amongst the many escorts was an Alfa Giulietta (apologies for spelling). Not the modern hatchback but the 3 box saloon from that time. Looked an sounded fantastic. Didn't get to see it in action as we were on stop line but they did appreciate me digging the Alfa flag from the back of the van. Last time I was one of these competing was the woodpecker rally in 1989.
Plenty of footage on youtube if you are interested. Look for car 101.

I wonder if the chap with the Giulietta wants a set of 14” Miniltes ? Ade. Did you see the Marina Coupe. ? Sounded a bit off in the clip I saw.

I'm after a set of 14" x5.5J Minilite wheels, but with 4" PCD to suit BMC hubs.
I did wonder if its possible to redrill the wheels or use adaptors to convert to 4" (101.6mm) PCD

Dave. These are 6x14 with 4x 98 pcd. I imagine a specialist wheel company may be able to re drill them and fit tapered inserts for the nuts btw mine are genuine Minilites not copies

I miss seeing the RAC rally going through Chatsworth and Clumber.
Re: RAC rally 2023
Sorry to go off subject,
But TT Tools in Essex will redrill for £75 per wheel.
Looks a bit iffy to me, and I can buy new minilite lookalikes for £300

Re: RAC rally 2023
If you didn't want to carry organisers decals it went up to £4900
Extra service plate was £200/van
Management car was £65 per car
Ceremonial start was last wednesday in Carmarthen.
Thursday and Friday in wales. Drove up to Carlisle overnight.
Sat and Sunday North of the border
Monday South of border. Final stage of event was about 38 miles long
Ceremonial finish back in carlisle.
Epic event but don't think you would see any change out of £10k
Fair bit out of my league

Re: RAC rally 2023
Wow thats a chunk of change. And that doesn’t take in to account if you have issues and don’t come away with the car in the same shape as you started. But I have to say God it looks like fun. Rallying as it should be.

Blimey that is a lot of money to find. You would need some good sponsors to do well with the ongoing expenses.
Interesting to see how much is involved in the basic costs. Ta.

Re: RAC rally 2023
I think it you were careful you could probably do the event for about £10000 including entry fee.
I wouldn't mind betting that the top boys you could put another 0 on it.
