I'm getting loads of SQL database errors coming up when I try to view a thread and a few when I try to post, they say disk full not enough space, has the hamster expired?

It is entirely possible the hamster has expired, or is about to, probable big IT bill coming up.....

Think it's all fixed now - I think our hosts may have pulled out a plug or didn't turn it off and on again....

Kev,
I did wonder about the IT costs of running this Forum.....

And whether you should ask for contributions from people who use it.......like me!!

Hi Dave.

The IT costs are one thing, but only once in a while really.
The costs in running a forum come from the monthly webspace charges, it's a catch 22 scenario too, the more popular we become so the more gets posted, content and pictures then the more webspace we need, which bumps up the montly fees.

Shrew and myself have had many a conversation on how to fund this, one options is indeed to charge an annual fee for members but we weren't entirely comfortable with this, we intended it to be a free place to post without too much interference or indeed cost. It would then make people question the value on being on here, or put people off from coming on in the first place.

It's awkward. We tried the donations page which some members did kindly donate too which was very gratefully recieved, and it is still there should folks feel the need. Even a few quid now and again helps.
But for as long as we can realitically keep it funded we are committed to keeping it going, even if it seems to have tailed off a bit of late.
Guess we need a few Winter projects to stir the senses again. :D
