Attempted my first 1st cambelt change along with waterpump, pulleys and tensioners, borrowed some cam locks and had a crack at it.
I went very slow and steady, following guides from all over the internet, I had to cut a 15mm socket down to get a big wheel thing off the side of the engine to remove the cover ( after an hour trying to work out how you get it off with the stupid cover over the bolt)
I used 2 spanners bolted together to make something I could move the aux belt tensioner with to get the belt on.
With fresh oil and a new filter ( no water in the engine as thermostat not turned up yet) I turned the key this morning, it only went and started, just for 5 seconds mind, having a celebratory brew now... I'm getting ok at this spanner stuff now

Eurocarparts. When I spoke to the lad on the phone initially I gave him their part number and he said ' something has come up on the screen but I don't know what it is' asked what it looked like and confirmed to him it was indeed and Alfa thermostat.
The one they sent fits and is the same body just too many pipes

Update 14/02/15
New thermostat fitted (shop4parts) engine runs, holds oil and water :D

As I threw away the cep thermostat packaging they would not let me return it ( it is in their T&C's) emailed their customer services and they authorised the return
