2.0 Twinspark running no balance belt

Post by waynedear »

Doing the belts and pulleys on the ti, coming across people running the cars without the balance belts, I understand there will be more vibrations, but you get another 6bhp.
My question is do I fit the new waterpump and cam belt then just NOT fit the balance belt but leave the associated pulleys and tensioner in place and put the covers back on :?:

All the cars that Spur Motorsport run in class E of the ARCA races series run without the balance shaft belt

Not sure you will see as much as 6 bhp but will be a small gain

Just leave the balance shafts as they are i.e. no need to lock them or remove them but leave off the belt and tensioner and then refit the covers

If it is a road car I would run with the balance belt as it does make the engine smoother and not sure you would notice the small power gain
