Naff like Def Leppard = Agree!
80's = deffo, turbo lag central!

Cant help liking them = Totally, although they dropped to bits faster than a stickle brick bridge!

Incidentally Chris, is that the Burntstump Car Park?

Try buying a R5 GT turbo now....not cheap. My brother had 2 of them, the second phase 2 was chipped and very quick.

Nothing naff about them :D

Look how small it is !

Except the build quality which was shocking according to anyone i knew that owned one,

But a very lively grin car all the same, and that makes us forgive little things like that eh! :D

I do like the styling (Giugiaro of course), but I seem to recall they had a serious problem with corrosion around the rear torsion bars...

Obviously the mid-engined Gordini Group B car would be my ultimate fave, but if it came down to a straight choice of French cars I would rather have an Alpine A310 or Ligier JS2...

Good spot though. R5s are getting seriously rare now. They used to be everywhere!

oooooh!!! I had a cracking elf liveried Corgi model of one of those as a kid! It had chrome bullet mirrors which I thought was really cool. (probably why they have appeared on my 127 project!) Be careful what toys you buy your kids, the Corgi X1/9 I had lost 12 years of my life...........................

I do - A110 and a very nice one at that, although I thought that the Alpine display was pretty poor overall, given that they were celebrating a major anniversary. No A310s at all!

I had a couple of 5 turbos back in the 90s .
One was lowered painted in really dark metallic green and the other was the eird pearl white colour they did and had the dimma kit on it.
i liked the way they went but were not built very well.
