Wet Feet

Post by Crank »

If you find your feet are getting a bit wet in your 75 you will probably find the bulkhead looks something like this when you finally remove the dashboard.

Not as bad as that, but that's just where my old 75 veloce was at its worst too.

Typical area of concern I think for the 75, and sadly the reason so many fell by the wayside, it quite a job just getting at it eh crank!

What's the plan now, fabricate as close as possible?

Well I was working on it during the summer and the area around the heater matrix is almost finished. I am concentrating on indoor jobs and my 'get it finished one day' Sprint Veloce during the bad weather ( as is its in the garage). Its certainly a difficult area to work on and you have to make up the repair sections so that you can get the welding torch on the joints and get everything in the right position so that the heater matrix and dash will all fit back in position. So its a bit of a patchwork quilt but I am happy that it won't leek.

I have plenty of photos but can't work out how to post more than one at a time and some photos will only post upside down, even if I invert them before posting.
Anyway, I still have this nasty bit of rot where the bonnet hinge attaches, to repair.

I have been making use of the good weather and progressing towards getting the dash back in. The grotty corner on the drivers side is now finished. It was difficult to get the welding torch in at a good angle while lying on my side and so the welding is not brilliant. When I removed the blower fan from the heater matrix box I found it jammed with rust that had been drawn in to the magnet. I was able to pull the larger pieces out with pliers and its now working again but I will play safe and replace it with a spare I bought.

Managed to get the dash back in and everything works. Well everything except the windows which are stuck fast.
