GTV6 Wiper Blades.

Post by Nige005 »

Time to fit new Wiper Blades in readiness for the glorious Summer that's coming.......

Right now it has 17" Blades fitted but I've always thought that these were a bit short although they are the specified size.

Thinking of fitting either 20" or 21" Blades, a quick look with a Tape Measure seems to suggest that this would be OK but am I missing something ?

Anyone tried this ?

I think years ago I went 1 inch longer on the 33? The way I see it as long as they don't touch when there in a sweep you should be ok

That's what I think too John but if that's indeed the case I get to wondering why weren't longer ones fitted as original ?

Just wonder if I'm getting the angles of the dangles mixed up and I'm missing the blindingly obvious.

Bit like the current Wipers missing about half the Screen !

back in the day nige 17" blades were about as big as it got i would think!

if you're sure that they will sweep clear of the screen seal and not hit each other on the way past i'd get as big as you can fit.
some experimenting by sticking bits of card to the original blades will confirm what size you can get away with 8-)

That's an idea similar to what I was thinking of doing Kev. Certainly going to fit the longest that I can.

Just to finish this off.

Fitted 20" Blades yesterday and am now pretty sure that this is the maximum size that will fit.

:) Not quite Kev, £4.99 delivered. Seem reasonable enough and I at least know what size is the best.

Another problem I have now, which has happened before, is that the Wash 'n Wipe and intermittent wipe functions aren't working, the Wash bit is fine but no Wipe. I think it's either the Plug and Socket connector to the Motor or a faulty wire in the loom nearby is the problem. The first step will probably be to " repin " the connectors. In the past just waggling the wires/plug and socket has got things going but is obviously not fixing the problem.

Something to do on a warmer day, along with some gardening........
