Hmm, quite nice, always did like a five spoke, although theyre almost five cuts outs rather than spokes!

13" and 18 holes for the split rim construction, shouts of compomotive/revolution style design, but the centre piece looks like a bit of a one off.

it doesn't appear to have much in the way of features, such as centre cap recess or spoke contour, and the wheels studs appear to only just nestle into a counterbore, which all seems to point to a diy centre piece to me, BUT, Image wheels have been known to knock up centres like this and do replacements barrels and lips in the comp/revo pattern too.

am i close?

ps - see how he's blanked the valve off in the outer lip, something a lot of split rim veedub guys seem to have a fascination for at the mo, and it looks like the wheels have been built using stainless steel allen bolts!

bit of a no no that, theyre not strong enough, by a long way!

and, are they fitted on a Mk2 facelift polo coupe?

Bloody hell mate you're good absolutely correct on all counts except the centres are Formula Ford with the inner spacer turned down to suit. The whole car was so low he had to run it up on blocks to get a low riser jack under it. Also the camber on the rear wheels was ridiculous and non-existent rear suspension because when he jacked the front up the whole side came off the deck. I will keep at you though.

ha ha! thanks mate, but they are my era of fanatacism, so i was on game from the beginning! :D

the formula ford thing was a curve ball for sure, but would explain why the studs look a little awkward, as they would likely be wobble bolts.

they were pretty much ford in engine only if i recall, and the hubs for them were actually old english 3.75"pcd i think, making them a stretch to fit even using wobble bolts on the veedubs 100mm stud pattern! could have redrilled easy enough though, that would be better imo.

the things we do to fit the wheels we love though, good effort! :P

keep it coming mate, i do love these challenges,

i'll find something for you soon mate too :D

But 4 stud?

Conversion maybe, as in plug weld and redrill.

Yes i think there is still quite a club and following.

I always thought they were quite a good looking bike, sound nice too, but i think they underperformed and were greedy as hell compared to the launch hopes so soon lost popularity at the time.

Quite futuristic in some aspects, try and google the clocks fir instance. The whole bike design and look was supposed to harkat rotation and cylinders etc

Posh eh! :D

1967 Revolution started Tony, founded i'm told by a guy who raced Alfa's if i recall correctly, who was dissapppointed in the lack of decent strength lightweight alloy wheels available to him.

No wonder they looks so good eh!

They have never done many designs, only about 7 or 8 available today, but they include the 4 spoke you remember, typically fords and mini fitment wasn't it, and a 5 spoke version in the same style, then the RFX's, a six spoke modern motorsport wheel, and then a couple of variations on the 8 spoke minilght design.

Still going today, and up against the cheap import versions in very similar designs.

I love them so i hope they can ride the storm and see the copycat crap off!
