I know this idea had been discussed before but how many of you would be interested in attending a forum track day ? I think somewhere like donnington as it’s pretty central to the country. But feel free to suggest other tracks.

For the first time since before Lockdown both the ‘Sud and 33 are track ready so if the dates work we’d love to join in

We did a trackday at Cadwell Park this last Monday, blessed with mostly dry weather which for late February was a real blessing!

Clio performed admirably, handling is spot on, brakes were great, decent amount of power so we didn't get in too many peoples way, even put a lap on a few cars 8-)
In the afternoon we put the Nankang semi slicks on in an efort to finally take Coppice flat out which I've never had the car, or courage to do  . The morning with the roadgoing Pirelli tyres saw us making a decent stab at it but I still couldn't bring myself to trust it having a few moments at an indicated 90ish mph on turn in, not a place to go off really and feeling things squirming at those speeds meant I had to have a decent lift on every lap even though I'd managed to stop braking..
In the afternon with the Nankangs on things were more confidence inspiring, the lift became more of a sliggt lift to settle things before turning in, which became a pretty much turn in flat out at an indicated 100mph with the car powering through the bend with a lovely drift on turn in, across the inside kerb and out to the grass on the uphill run towards Charlies, a bit too close to the exit grass for my liking but I claim that as a box ticked! All those years ago when sat in Teds' Suds' passener seat and seeing it can actualy be taken flat it has been my ambition to do the same even if Teds car is a race spec car and the Clio is very much a road car with all that extra weight and no roll cage o protect you if it goes wrong! A 100mph corner we've all done on empty stretches or road or motorway, but a 100mph corner where the car is dancing on the limit is another matter so happy to have done it and came away unscathed. Later on we dropped the outside rear wheel onto the grass exiting the Gooseneck which snapped us sideways so we called it a day while we still could, headbutting the inside armco flat out in 3rd didn't appeal much!
Cadwell is a great track but it can easily be a car destroyer as the Porsche guy found out 6 minutes into the day!

Rob also took his 182 which is a bit more track focused, he seemed to be having a good day too! :D
Spent most of the day cocking the rear wheel especially when he got his first taste of slicks with the extra grip they give. 8-)
