Agreed engine needs a good overhaul and detailing my OCD side was going into melt down refiitting it but I guess the customer is always right and said he would do it himself in time , personally I think I might be taking that engine out again at some point in the not to distant future ;) :D

Ceratainly not my cup of tea, but finally i got to spend some time on this 230sl pagoda that has been hanging around wanting "a bit of work" :D

finally straight, and in primer, so we'll see where it goes from here.

if i'm honest. i'll be glad to see the back of this inherited job, as i'd much rather see a job through from start to finish, even the messy end, rather than take on a half way basket case!

soon to be signal red, fingers crossed! :D

I do like the style of them.

Recently finished this one, then helped the owner fit it up.

Maserati Tipo 60 "Birdcage". Recreation but very authentic.
No a DB6 behind a DBS , as in Bond OHMSS. The model before the V8.

To be fair mate, you would be had pressed to distinguish between the two from that photo as you can only see the top half of the front end and only a bit of the roof line. :D

Been meaning to show this tool for a while, I use it quite a lot at work if bottom ball joints need separating.
Used to be a case of getting someone to pull down on a lever or big bar whilst struggling to also get into the joint to see what was going on.
Thought about getting one of those hockey stick type levers which work well but still takes you away from the action, unless you get someone else to pull down on the lever.

What we have is just superb, especially great if you work on your own. It works far better than it looks like it will , I had my doubts when it turned up but I've yet to have a car defeat me with it.

You simply hang it under the car, hook onto something the opposite side then turn the silver threaded portion which tensions the side you've put the chain through. Most ball joints pull out with a few screwdriver twists, the previous method of levering and hammering at the hub are things of the past! Most joints just pop out of the hub, a squirt of WD and a hammer tap is the worst you have to do!

IMG_20190117_134603.jpg

This was when I had a 306 in this week which needed a new bottom ball joint.
Beauty of this tool is that it holds the arm safely out of the way of ABS rings of CV boots, especially handy as the joint came wrong so it sat safely there for an hour or so awaiting the correct joint. No danger or drams. New joint in then unwind the tool and done.

IMG_20190117_134711.jpg
Quite expensive but well worth the money for ease of use and huge drop in hassle!

Had an Audi Q7 in today for some brake work, German engineering at it's finest?
Do me a favour...who in there right mind would site an ECU directly under the windscreen scuttle grilles for it to be soaked every time it rains, or gets washed! A lovely collection of leaves to keep things soggy too...

Morning Keith

It's very solid. Makes mine before I welded it .look like a rot box. One of the cleanest . It's road going track race car. It's going to have a 1.8 from Dave Ashford or Ashcroft. Will be quick 8-) the doors weigh nothing. Given me a couple of ideas . But I'm keeping the electronic Windows. But will fit polycarbonate instead ;)
Having a cuppa now .just blown off the car. Than put some primer on it

Who does the 33 belong to ? Is it fast road or a racer. I haven’t seen a 33 racer for a while. If it’s a full race 1800 from Dave ashford it will be about 180bhp.

Hi
It belongs to Andrew Maguire he saying he's going to race it. Dave has told him it will be 200bhp . At least . We shall see ;)
