Re: Yesterday I was working on...
Yesterday, I installed a new pair of rear shocks and fitted my toyo tires r888r. Then I went out to test them.

Morning Keith
Yeah it's been a great project. They secretly testing it at the hill where the race will be held . It hit 40 mph with out being pushed but we think there will be jumps and chicanes. The rears have mountain bike suspension .I just hope the rear wheels don't fold as being spokes . Fronts are mags . Fingers crossed for that . But it will be quick

Wow that's pretty special. Love the fact it has MTB suspension on the rears, similar on the front or something different given steering is important too let us know how it fairs in the event.

Cheers
Yes it got independent suspension on the front too. The owners over the moon with it. Looked great loading it into the back of the van the bearings are so smooth on it .it's going to fly
Hopefully I'll get to see it run. But John the owner will keep me posted . Plus the Donald Campbell museum is allegedly interested in it. Which is pretty cool.

Nice work with the "Bluebird"!
Some more grey painting done!
Now I have to change colour!.... and paint the white diagonal stripes.
For those observant people who are wondering about the yellow/black checkered board, it is the advanced warning board for the mail exchange apparatus - for use with the Travelling Post Office demonstration train.

Re: Yesterday I was working on...
I had some catching up to do today,
a damaged L200 pickup, needs saving without the insurance involvement, and sadly the blighter that bumped it around the motorway disappeared into the distance without a care in the world!
Mitsubishi want just under £1400 for a pair of rear quarter panels, so unpicking and rewelding those on was out the question, so the joint decision was made to source a decent rear tub and fit the entire thing.
Far cheaper, but not easy, but managed to get this swapped in a day, all mounted, welded, plumbed and wired up, and even plugged up the arch extension mount holes that the original truck isn't specced for.
Knackered now....

That was quite a whack it took.
You were lucky to find a replacement rear bed. Good work mate.
Any luck with the Ford parts?

Re: Yesterday I was working on...
Hi Keith
yeah the poor guy got belted on his nearside and punted into the barrier on his offside, very nearly a very nasty pile up
as for the Ford parts (Mk1 XR4i), no luck yet i'm afraid.
The two suppliers have the same sills that i already have from Magnum panels, and sadly the contact although showed great promise but has as yet not replied to my enquiry, so i'm no further forward with it currently.
Looks like i'll be fabricating around the issue

I always wondered why coal wagons had that white stripe painted at one end.

Is that a pukka Ace Keith?
Re: Yesterday I was working on...
Thanks guys.
We do get some great stuff come our way, and yes Tony, we are lead to believe it is a pukka Ace with a Ruddspeed conversion. It has had a modern brake conversion on the front and new alloy body.

Very nice car though. One guy turned up at my local MOT [lace and they are very nice and booked it in, but when he left they wondered what kind of kit car it was !
When I explained what one would cost them their attitude changed completely. Very funny.
Re: Yesterday I was working on...
They have probably only come across Cobra kit cars in the past, some of which were quite inaccurate and narrow.
Glad you put them right.

Re: Yesterday I was working on...
Just an update
It Lives!!
With a collection of wires and temporary adaptations the MeGa BGT V12 Fired up for the first time. I have uploaded a short video on You Tube and I think this is the link.
https://youtu.be/oUgVghlkVgE
As I have now sold my Sprints, I feel a bit of a fraud lurking on here, but I have received so much help and support from so many on here I find it hard not to keep revisiting.

Re: Yesterday I was working on...
Thanks Kev - it is now firing on about 10 cylinders so is sounding better! I am busy getting the two banks of carbs linked and as long as they all open reasonably together I'll be happy. It will not be used for going to the shops - just garage candy/possible show/ RWYB.......KevJTD wrote:Keep it coming Phil, no restrictions on make really, more about the people

I had forgotten that the induction system is 3 x Sprint - so there is a justification!
Re: Yesterday I was working on...
Don't need justification if its interesting and your is !
I joined our local historic vehicle club so there is more interest. Last meal sat next to a chap I was told had interesting cars and we spent the bulk of the time discussing cycles.

Re: Yesterday I was working on...
So been working for the dark side today or a VW owner as there more commonly known we had completed an outer body respray on this Mk2 Golf then the owner decided they would like the engine bay smartened up so out came the engine and a few other bits and bobs a good prep up and a fresh coat of paint, today was spent finishing up, added a new electric fuel pump to keep those dellortos fed properly and tidied up the very sorry looking wiring harness, Think the customer will now spend his evenings detailing the engine
Re: Yesterday I was working on...
Nice work there, always do like to see a smart engine bay.
Engine kind of spoils the look though
