WTF is going on with the tax

Post by lee16v »

Just had a look on DVLA vehicle check thingamybob and it's coming up as 230 quid to tax my car. Is this correct? Last year before it came off the road I paid 185 of my hard earned.
If this is correct, all I can say is thieving barstewards.

I just checked lee, and that does indeed appear to be the case!

Used cars, registeted before March 2001, above 1549cc,

230 quid for 12mths! :o

They dont want us on the road mate, fact!

And for that extra 50quid, you get even dearer fuel, and ever increasing amount of jaw dropping wheel splitting potholes and a road surface like an albanian pikeys driveway!

Our government?

We're in it together you know? Ha ha!

Barstewards
Anyone got a damaged P4 wheel so I can take a pic of it next to a mahoosive pothole (not hard to find these days) so I can sue the council and get my bloody money back.

Mmmmm. Just got the renewal for my 82 Alfetta GTV6 and it's £225, I think about the same or very little more than last year.

Aaargh.

Just taxed the Alfetta on line and it is now £230, £5 more than it said on the renewal notice.

Should have remembered, this happens every year. :x

Yes indeed, John. Just need to stamp the engine code from a 1.2 sud on there, the insurance numpties would never know

Insurance numpties would barely know what a Sud,Sprint,33 is, let alone what a boxer engine looks like or where to even begin finding a number on it.

i think we're safe with that one, just send the v5 off,

1500ti motors for all of us then,

a 1.2ti might be stretching things a bit if you get collared on the m6 at 110mph and pulling!

i knew i'd make use of the 1.3 SC badge at some point! ha ha!

I didn't think they were that switched on :o

A GT moniker I can understand, but Tourism Internazionale?

Aside from those of us "in the know", the words International Touring are hardly synonymous with "pavement peeling performance" are they?

you must have had a few strange questions or queries over yours being a Nova eh Lauren?

unless of course you use a specialist insurer that know full well the difference between yours and the GM Mini Hatch of old!

Absolutely - Adrian Flux every time for me. The only problem is that with all the modifications to the Green Machine I really ought to be insuring the car through Flux' custom car department. As it is, I have a long list of modifications lodged with the kit car department, and their insistance on calling the car a "Volkswagen Nova" means that the DVLA and motor insurance database entries don't match, so I can't renew my tax online
