Hi all, found this site after browsing the web yesterday. After seeing some of the issues on alfaowner I decided to give it a miss!
I own shrew's old sprint, after buying it from my dad who hadn't really done anything with it since he bought it a couple of years ago from shrew (can't remember exactly when it was.)
It's now MOT'd after having sorted a few issues over the winter. The plan is to use it over the summer and get to some shows etc and then take it off the road this winter to address the bodywork/rust.
Hope to see some of you at some meets soon!

PS. I also own the 33 mentioned in the spotted thread! It's currently my daily driver.

Thanks for the welcome.

Yeah, we're still up at the lockup, however I've just moved back into Lincolnshire so I'm hoping to get up there more often and start sorting stuff out.

Sprint is ok. I've rebuilt the carbs, replaced some fuel/coolant hoses, sorted the brakes, new plugs and leads etc. Just got the carbs to fine tune and hopefully I'll be able to start using it for work a couple of days a week starting next week (weather permitting.) Can't wait!

Hi and welcome mate :-) Shrews sprint was very nice as far as I remember.

Got any recent pics of it ?

Here's a couple of pictures I took yesterday.

Spent this evening balancing the carbs, need to get some trumpets though, the noise with no airbox is fantastic!!

What ? No black multispokes ? :o

By the way.. that black ... sticker is it ? ... round the windscreen, what's it for ?

I wanted to ask Shrew last time I saw the car but forgot.

Ooh thats Harsh! give the lad a chance to settle in eh! :P

That black area was put there by the guy who owned it before me, it was like a satin black tape if i recall.

The condition underneath didn't seem bad to me, it was always dry, 90% smooth and solid, so i suspected it may have been the seal that was more suspect, rather than the pillar?

Also why i didn't take it off in a hurry, and i guess thats the same for you today Josh is it?

Car looks nice still anyway, has it behaved itself Josh?

heres a few piccies you might not have

Yeah, like I said, the bodywork needs attention, arches, front wings, scuttle etc. Underneath is pretty good, however the sills will need work along with a few other little bits.

Just want to get some use out of it over the summer before pulling it apart over the winter months as I've not had a Sprint before. Mainly had 155's, 156's and 33's.

It's behaving fairly well shrew, did about 20 miles last night after checking the timing and giving the carbs another tweak. So far so good!

thats good to know Josh, great in fact.

i remember the first day i got that car, it was a complete unknown to me, and trailered it back so wasn't sure quite what it would be like.

i couldn't wait, and had just sold a full sized Mapex drum kit on ebay. I told the bloke i would deliver it there and then just for the excuse to have a drive.

can you believe you'd get a full drum kit in a sprint!

i drove about 200 miles round trip, pooring rain with terrible tyres, crap wipers, battery light came on every sweep of the screen, steamed up mostly, sunroof leaked on me a bit, and i loved every minute of it!

awesome!

Wipers and heater are definitely not the car's strong points!

It's the back to basics that I like. The wife runs a 159 Ti and as much as it's a lovely car, I'm always petrified something'll go wrong.

There's not much that can't be sorted on the sprint with a few spanners and screwdrivers at the roadside. Perfect!

Funny you should mention a sud. We actually have one up at Ludford. It's a S3 Ti that spent most of it's life as a race car.
