Hating each other and being at war or at least against each other is usually the reason from way back in history.....power base ‘a’ decided red is the best colour, so wannabee power base ‘b’ decides blue is the best colour. We went rhd, so France went lhd, or vice versa when horse and carts where modes of transport.
Colonial influences will have exacerbated that globally back in time.

I was talking garbage......junior was almost right re romans and napoleon.
However mostly about having your sword in your right, or drawing hosses and carts.

I was told by the curator of the Towe Ford museum in Sacramento that the reason the Model T was right hand drive when everyone in the US was already driving on the right was so that the driver could alight onto the pavement/boardwalk, thus avoiding having to step in a load of horse doodoo on the unpaved roads...
