When I was growing up in the 70s. I wasn’t really into music. So it is with a certain joy that I have recently discovered Prog rock from that period Jethro Tull to Lindesfarne and Focus. Awesome . I’m liking Steeleye Span aswell .
Looking forward to listening to their music on an 80s pioneer cassette player whilst driving the sud.

I have a six disc autochanger in the boot of my Sud, and if I want to listen to something other than the engine note, I have it loaded with 70's music.
I know the unit is the wrong era but the sounds are perfect for a 70's Sud.

I’m going to start collecting 80s Cassettes anyone got any they don’t want ?

Binned all my cassettes some time back!
They seemed to tangle/break too easily.

I bought it on vinyl, and still have it/play it!

If you’ve never ejected a cassette and then had to pull 5ft of tape out and then use a pencil to wind I all back on to the spool you’ve never lived !!

I used to pull the tape out, then it jammed and snapped.

Of course "Aqualung" is probably Jethro Tull's most popular album.

Great riff rock, if you are into that sort of thing.

Being a child of the 80s I was too young to buy a prerecorded cassette, I used to listen to some of my dads and by the time I was old enough to get into music of my own we had cds and a CD player.

Still used to make my own tapes for the car as cassette players were still more common than in car CD players.

My mrs is a few years older and still has a few cassettes so I’ve had to steal a few for my sud.


I saw something shimmering at the side of the road the other day which reminded me of and got me thinking when was the last time you saw an unravelled cassette at the side of the road? obviously flung out of the window in a fit of rage after getting tangled up

Yes, I also made my own mix tapes listening to Annie Nightingale or John Peel. Always had a tape in the machine just in case something caught my ear.

80’s for me, just easier to tune into absolute 80’s or heart 80’s.

Lou - no cassettes I can give you, main reason is my brothers daily is a y2000 bmw that believe it or not came with a cassette player behind the head unit when new. He plays the cassettes in his.

I got a cheap radio cassette for Xmas from my folks which went in my first sud at 17, blasting all the 80’s music from cassette, either bought or ‘taped’ from the top 40 on radio 1.

Looks like the keyboard player shafted the rest of the band and had the gem away in the video to make himself a ring.
