I think we're not getting it because it is so familiar, can't see the wood for the trees, etc. There's something of the Scimitar SS1 about it, the colour makes it seem like an Escort cabrio, and the door handles are like a Pug 106. But it's got a cover over the rag top which suggests it's got a power hood, which would have been quite exotic in an 80s car.

Ohhhh, well, at least that explains why it seemed so familiar - the M100 Elan was a bit of a parts bin special...

And then it became the Kia Elan in 1996

Few, glad we got them out of the way, I was stumped.

Well this is not a car. but interesting to the engineering mind. Spotted in Portugal. What is it and what was it used for ? :D

Me too!

I thought your Portugese thing was an artillery howitzer at first, but it is probably some sort of farming implement 8-)

Looks very robust!

Think farming's right Lauren. My guess is a diesel air compressor of ancient vintage - worked on a farm 48 years ago. Lol

Wow so quick, yep its a compressor for working a marble quarry. Though if you took it into battle a few years ago it would have the other side worried.

To cut one slice off a Berlingo sized block of marble with a wire rope took two weeks ! :o No wonder it was expensive.

So what is the motive power? It looks like one enormous transmission, with no engine attached!

Yes that was my take on it till I saw the two enormous valve springs sticking out this end.

And as Sud says i think it was diesel powered .

i have a few more shots of interesting bits of kit if you would like me to post them.

That's a nice, easy one - BMW 700; I've always thought they look a bit like an Amphicar styling-wise.

In the 80s I used to love taking the wind out of people's sails when they said they had a BMW with a great deal of pride, by replying "700 or Isetta?" :D

1st one I've seen, understand the coupe is pretty rare - styling is of its time obviously.

Very true, the pre-facelift VW Type 3 looked pretty similar from the front too.

Funny to think how BMW, a manufacturer of tiny badge-engineered bubble cars with such bad cashflow problems Lord Rootes refused to bail them out, became the manufacturer of the car every UK Yuppie wanted in less than 30 years. And shady dealings around the takeover of the much more successful Borgward aside, that unusual little 700 microcar was pretty much what saved BMW from bankruptcy.

Well, If I get Giulietta spider wrong, I will feel a prat, but that is what I guess and a Silver Shadow, possibly a Corniche.
Is the blue silver button on a TVR Chimera convertible?
Guess on the white one is an Austin Healey :?

The last one looks like a ZL1 cowl induction hood, so I am going to say Chevy Camaro, around 1969 vintage?

(UK cars tend to be modified with lots of non-period parts, but it is definitely pre-1970 and-a-half, when the Camaro was re-styled.

I also think the white one is an Austin Healey, a 100/6.

Third from top I think is a 356 Porker, maybe even a real one :D
