Retro Wheels, Refurb & Rebuild Service
To Blatantly self promote, this service is offered by myself, Petrolhead, Shrew
As a hobby initially, i now spend a lot of time sourcing, buying and selling retro and cult classic wheels.
The older styled wheels have always been a hobby of mine, but thanks to the current retro car scene, the market for them has become very interesting!
Also, since most of the best wheel manufacturers have long since disappeared, a lot of the cult wheels we all wanted back in our teens, are extremely tough to find.
I try to stock a range of wheels at any time, such as original English made Compomotives, & Revolutions, and in typical classic styles, deep dish, split rims, and components etc etc, and in a variety of fitments and sizes
Alternatively, if you already have your dream rims, but they aren't looking their best anymore, i can also offer a full professional refurb service, including chemical strip, shotblasting, powder coating and wet painting, polishing, and split rim services & rebuilds.
heres a small collection of past wheels
Either private message me, or email me directly at petrolheadshrew@gmail.com for more information or enquiries
Thanks for looking

you have so little imagination Chris!
Hi John
Yes i know full well what you'll be doing with them! Good Lad!
Sadly i don't have any myself, but will ask around.
I'm guessing if you needed some quickly you could try AutoLusso, But its just possible that they will either be expensive, or weighed in!
Could you use some Audi/VW/Skoda/Seat 5 x 100 with wobble bolts? they be a doddle to find for sure, steel or alloy?
cheers

Re: Retro Wheels, Refurb & Rebuild Service
sadly not much good for you mate without modification one way or the other.
nice wheels, very very rare i reckon, but sadly if they are suitable for the earlier cars he mentions, they will be the same as the ford 4 stud fitment, 4 x 108mm pcd.
lord knows why, or more appropriately why that changed to the silly 98mm we are stuck with

The black compomotives in the 3rd pic look great, out of interest do you remember how wide they were , it's got a great looking 'dish' on it?

Re: Retro Wheels, Refurb & Rebuild Service
Hi Tim
from talking with you the other day, i suspect they are exactly what you wanted,
Compomotive MS1370, so 13" x 7j
offset is a kicking out -7 iirc, so great size for your track sud i would have thought.
They come up every now and then, most commonly in either 4" Mini pcd, Ford 108mm pcd, and on rare occasions 100mm.
Super Rare in 4 x 98mm, but did exist.
If any 4 x 100mm pcd turn up at right money, grab them and use wobble bolts or nuts. Don't believe the horror stories, i've been using them for years, 100% fault free if used correctly, i.e. used to adjust a 2mm maximum pcd difference, correctly seated, and torqued properly.
Sometimes its the only way.....

i'd echo the use of wobble bolts.
used to think they were unsafe but that was before looking at them.
they simply use a flat headed bolt with a loose fitting tapered collar, so the bolt goes in perfectly straight but the collar is slightly offset. only by 1mm in this case so not even that far offset.
would add though that spigot rings are essential for keeping the wheel central on to the hub

Re: Retro Wheels, Refurb & Rebuild Service
Thanks both, daft question perhaps but on a track car the wheels are on and off quite a lot, does that make any difference to using wobble bolts?
Re: Retro Wheels, Refurb & Rebuild Service
Actually, just remembered ive converted the hubs to studs, not bolts so I assume I can't get wobble nuts (ooer)....

Re: Retro Wheels, Refurb & Rebuild Service
Precisely what i've done in the past Tim, however, i don't recall paying that much for them!
are your studs definitely still the m12 x 1.25 thread?
some folk convert to 1.50 as its a more common size, so worth a check before you buy.
