After over 3 years.......

She finally sees daylight :) . A watershed moment in this project and a great feeling to have reached this point. Now I can start prepping the body work although I do have to wrestle with 3 door hinge bolts first to remove them as I have screwed them up royally......... Any advice on how to proceed gratefully received.
Manwhile I shall retread into my smug self satisfied little world :D

Well a few wee things planned. It was never going to be a concourse car as I have neither the funds nor ability, so have opted for an alternative idea.
1- Engine standard, but rebuilt and ready to go in once painted.
2- suspension updated with gas shocks all round and poly bushes in key areas
3- Leather seats from phase 1 GTV
4- Sideskirts from a 156 if I can make them fit
5- 15" teledials from a 146Ti
6- Body to be painted in Rosso Mirò 167A

That's it really

Holy thread resurrection .....

However I have just today booked the Sprint in to be painted. I am sick and tired of wasting nights trying to fill and flat, so for the sake of a few quid let the pros do it. Stupid stuff is driving me bonkers just when I think I have got it right another look reveals I have made things worse - as you can see!!. 31st March and in she goes!!!

`Stuff is driving you bonkers and you lack the ability'. :D

Great to read that, I do not feel alone with those qualities any more.

Hope the painting goes well and posting on here helps you keep going with it. Good luck.

Will it be Red again, or a different colour?

Rosso Miro 167A is the chosen colour. I just hope that IS what is in the tin............ :D

What I now need to try to source is the side window rubbers - the ones that go on the edge trims. They are shot, and brittle.

Great to see the Sprint coming together mate. Once it comes back all red and shiny, it will give you a new boost.

Can't wait to see your progress!

Well got the call yesterday to say.......... She's painted.

Chuffed, delighted, excited doesn't quite cover it. OK the purists are not going to like this, and it's a not absolutely perfect in every way, however once re-assembled I think I should have a unique, solid and above all very usable Sprint.

Does anyone know where I can get an Alfa paint colour sticker from or made up?

For your pleasure and/or criticism.

That certainly is RED! Looks to be a good paint job though - enjoy the rebuild.

Have a look at Gary orchard's TIX rebuild thread, I think there is talk of paint code stickers in there somewhere.
Lovely red btw. I think it is important to have the colour you want rather than the colour it came out of the factory with.

It really is a stunning shade. It is very difficult to photograph but some of the colours that come off it when the sun shines are incredible. The chap painting it did say he was very unsure about it while he was painting it. He changed his mind once he wheeled it outside!!

As an aside, he has a Mustang in for paint and a Porsche 944 too. The wee Alfa drew more attention than the other 2 combined apparently

Todays update. Re assembly commenced but it was more like a mad headless chicken scurry around to find bits......

That said, Interior placed in, wheels fitted, bonnet refitted, and some of the rubbers re-installed too.

Thoughts on the teledials folks? Personally I rather like them...

I think your car looks great.
Is the colour an Alfa production colour?
Personally, I am fond of teledials ( 3x 156 )and as you have updated the car with non original colour and trim, the wheels suit.
I think she will look very smart when finished. 8-)

Yes the colour is an Alfa colour. Its Rosso Nuvola 167A - sold here as Rosso Miro

Good to see another car coming back to life

I never found a supplier for paint code stickers for a Sud - there are stickers available for the 105 series cars but they are not the same

Hope you are back on the road soon

Liking the rebuild coming on well. I too like the teledials on the car, looks retro with a more modern twist but still in the Alfa vain. Should look stunning when done.
Always wanted a Sprint having seen black one many years ago, I then bought a 33 S1 as it was the first Alfa I saw for sale afterwards.

I keep searching for another 145 so I can get some for it :)

Overdue a little progress report. Back end of the car is pretty much rebuilt, and a new headlining has been made and as of yesterday installed. It's far from perfect, but will carry out any rectification at the end (I made an arse of the cutout for the sunroof....... will need to see if I can get a wider finisher for the sunroof surround.) Anyway a couple of pics for you.....
