Sud rear brake pressure limiting valve

Post by rsfruitbat »

Hi All
As these are like trying to find an albino unicorn has anyone tried fitting the later 33 unit? Physically it has the same dimension mountings but they are a 4 pipe fitting as opposed to the Suds 2.
Can you just blank off 2?
Do you have to T into it and T out of it?
Something else?
Someone has a 2 pipe one to sell?

All advice gratefully recieved

I just fitted a brake bias valve.
Screwdown adjustment.
I put it near the master cyl for easy access and keeps it away the road dirt.
Compbrake do them reasonably priced. Made in UK, so they say.

........adjust it until the rear brakes don't lock up.

Thanks for the suggestion Dave. It is one of the options. A downside to installing a bias valve is that I think it will limit rear braking under all conditions?
I wonder how many peoples are stuck and they have no idea?

Thanks rsfruitbat

A guy I know fitted ABS to a 1967 Lotus Elan plus 2.

Had the notched machined into the disc edges. ABS system came from a scrap Renault!

I fitted a bias valve then it leaked so took it out and have never noticed any difference.

Could you get your old one restored as there are people redoing master cylinders.

You can get a new Sud "braking corrector" at Casa del Freno in Italy.
245 euros though I'm afraid.

Hi All
Trying to fit 4 pipe regulator from a 33. Blanked one side off. So just using one in, one out.
Dimensionally they look a lot different but where it counts on mounting holes height etc it's the same.
Installed on the car but I'm trying to figure out what the Haynes manual calls the locator. The pig tail hooks in on one side and there is a finger that fits into a slot on the body panhard rod bracket. As this finger works in a slot should it be able to rotate? There is no locknut or spring washer. It's a substantial bolt needing a 17mms spanner.
Any suggestions?
