Hello from the Netherlands

Post by FredF »

Greetings to fellow Sud owners.
I'm an American living part of the year in NL where I have kept my 1983 SC (with 1.5L) for 11 years.
In the states Im a 105 guy as Suds are non existent and pretty much unknown. I've got a couple of Supers, a 1600Z and a Dino spider. The sud is my summer vacation car and have driven it MANY miles as far as Rome to the south and Northern Scotland just recently.
Over the years I've been working and having work done on the little sud but there are always questions and the ALFABB (where I normally frequent) is no help at all.

So, before I over-load you guys with questions; some photos:

Now the questions.... where do you guys get parts? I've been using a guy out of Athens Greece (with a UK website) for years.
https://www.alfa-restoration.co.uk/shop/
But I'm always looking for another source for hard to find things (like all the parts!)

Several options available:

- This forum as mentioned earlier

- Gerard Spitsbaard in Nieuwegein for NOS and used parts (NL)

- USATO in Ridderkerk for NOS and used parts https://www.usato.nl/ (NL)

- Italricambi in Heerhugowaard for NOS parts https://italricambi.nl/index.php?option=com_virtuemart (NL)

- Marco van Baar near Volendam for used parts (NL)

- Thor van Gameren for used parts (NL)

- https://sudshop.co.uk/ for high quality remanufactured parts (UK)

- https://www.afra.it/ they have way more parts than listed on their website. If you need something write them with the desired part number and often they have it. Shipping costs are very high though (my personal opinion) (ITA)

- Several more ........

Thanks for the helpful replies!
I will check them out.
I've finally figured out how to fix my saggy seats on my sud... I think proper etiquette is to start a new thread.

Hi Fred,
Welcome to the forum. Always nice to get a new member.
Nice Sud you have there.
Hopefully you can find some help if you need it here, plus maybe some parts as well.
Sounds like you have a nice collection of cars as well, great stuff.
Keith.

Thanks Kev
Its in pretty good shape. Some rust on the floors that will need to be cutout and new metal put in. Still strong at the moment.
The 1.5 engine is a very nice upgrade to the single carb 1.3. It will need a rebuild in a few years I suspect.
I use this car for long drives around Europe - most often to Italy via the twisty roads over the Alps.
I just had the windows tinted to keep us (especially the dog) a bit cooler in sunny Italy. I don't normally like to tint windows in old-timers but I got tired of my girlfriend demanding a new car with A/C! :P
