Watts linkages

Post by Splant »

Should the bolts be tightened as tight as possible so all the suspension movement is taken by the rubber bushes twisting , or should they be slack enough so the metal bush moves around the bolts? I'm guessing tight , and the rear arms rubbers seem a lot firmer than the front arms is this how they should be or would they have been the same when new?

..and just in case you already didn't know,
usually bolts must be tighted with the car sitting on his wheels
or with another system in which the suspensions
are compressed at about half ride by the weight of the car

This will permit rubber in the bushes to strech less
and reduce a lot the risk that they could breake when
suspension will move, as rubber will be stretched in one
direction or the opposite only half of total ride of the suspension

Cheers think I'll undo the front and get missus sit on the wing and tetighten ,as it's very skittish over potholes when going uphill, probably the shocks though.

Yes I think I'll leave it as is , I'm not that confident in my inner wing welding for that much stress, lol, I've done 2500 miles in July so it can't be that annoying .
