Removing side trim

Post by Splant »

Any idea how the trim comes off ? I've removed the green trim( some snapped) now I've got the plugs with a square recess twisting them doesn't seem to free them I've forced the rear quarter one off but the fittings are still stuck there? Sorry I seem to be taking over this forum, but been furloughed and great weather means im getting stuck in.

They do indeed twist out.... you need to turn them say 45 degrees.... I used a 3/4 "square drive driver ..the kind that you use for sockets as i recall.. although it was a while ago.. bit of wd40 will help..... historically i have carefully eased the trims off the fasteners... i have managed to remove and refit the side trims to my green clover leaf sprint without taking the fasteners out of the body...... but when I fitted my new doors I needed the clips.... I managed to buy a few new ones from a company in Holland..... but they seem rare... they are used on 83 to 87 ish sprint... alfa 75 and 164 iirc.
Took me ages looking at them to work out how they released.... as I say... bit of wd40 helped me loads.
Cheers
