Rear side windows 3 door

Post by chriswilliams »

I want to paint the metal bracket that hinges the rear window.
Does anybody know how to separate the glass from the metal?

Are they stuck together or is there a mechanical fixing?

Any advice appreciated.

Chris

Hi Chris. No there no mechanical fixing the glass is pressed in to the channel and has a 1-2mm thick rubber strip on the edge of the glass. They can be a tight fit. What we did when we had to replace them was to remove the glass from the car and from above or below gently drive a wedge down the channel between the edge of the glass and the channel it should slowly start to separate and can then be removed you will probably find the rubber strip will have deteriorated and will need to be replaced original rubbers are NLA so just use a suitable generic rubber section
Hope the photo makes sense
Lou.
