Car looks good!
Re: AlfaSud, the first hot hatch
Problem is that the golf gti was out late 70’s, 78 ish I think in Europe, and it’s the term ‘hatch’
I posted the same on PistonHeads and all the nerds moaned that that the early sud wasn’t a hatch.
Then all the nerds posted simcas and all sorts of crap
Anyhow, good vid and I agree that the sud was the first hot hatch even when it had a boot.
If we get totally anal, maybe it was the sprint.......is that a hot hatch or a hot coupe

What about the Austin A40???Veesix75 wrote:Anyhow, good vid and I agree that the sud was the first hot hatch even when it had a boot.

Totally agree about the Sud. The Golf got there in the end, but the Sud was designed to go, stop and handle right from the start - I mean, who designs a 5-speed box and then releases it as a 4-speed???
Re: AlfaSud, the first hot hatch
Well they did race the Austin A40, so that has to be the first hot hatch ?

Re: AlfaSud, the first hot hatch
It has a hinged rear window, not a combined hinged hatch........
Re: AlfaSud, the first hot hatch
Phase 2 Rochdale Olympic had a proper rear hatch in 1963.
It was hot if you touched the exhaust manifold

Re: AlfaSud, the first hot hatch
Some say Aston Martin DB 2/4 was the first "production" hatch. 1953.
