Heater

Post by alfadave »

Heater fan motor just packed in on my sud.
Checked fuses, and double checked by putting 12v to it, but no joy.

I've been on to John for a replacement......

but as the output is so poor, I wondered about an upgrade.
Is it possible to fit a bigger matrix from another car in the heater box?

I did look at new sud ones, but as they are nearly £200, put that idea aside!

Got the fan working......I hadn't earthed the 12v temp supply!

But it won't operate from the column switch.

Fuses are ok.

Maybe a problem with the switch or the wiring

Sadly it could be just worn out. .but check the cornecters to the rear . My 33 on the second speed was temperamental to say the least.

John, yes correct the live switch contact.

Auto elec came. He put a separate live switch in the dash. Luckily there was a cut out there, and I had a switch.

And the column switch still alters the speed.

Result for £20!

Yes, I didn't fancy paying £190 to the Greek guy for a new set of column switches

Thats a good fix Dave, - alternative heater would be a 33 series 3 heater, same fitting into the bulkhead, the tricky bit would be the outlets into the cabin, - if you're feeling ambitious I have a couple here .......
Cheers, John.

Sorry,
It was the matrix that was £190

The col switches were only £160
