twin dellorto choke levers
twin dellorto choke levers
hi, I've took my carbs off to clean and free off as it's been off the road 20 years, and the choke levers on the carbs only move about 5 mm ! is this correct? I'd of thought you wouldn't even feel the choke pull move in the car if this is correct.
Re: twin dellorto choke levers
They should move quite a bit further than that, most likely seized due to lack of use. The twin/twin carb set up means choke use is pretty much not needed.
I'd think from memory they move by more like an inch, but then I can't remember what I did yesterday!

Ant twin carb Sud I've owned I've never used choke to start it with.
A few pumps of the throttle pedal before start up works fine for me

I've got twin Dellorto DRLA 36's
The choke levers should move 90 degrees, and are spring loaded to return to the off position.
Sounds like you need some penetrating oil on them.
Like others I've removed the choke control and cable/brackets.
The car sits outside, and is used daily all year.
Starts easily after a couple of pumps of the acc pedal to squirt some fuel in via the acc pump beaks.
Check all 4 of these are squirting fuel. If one doesn't work, it could be blocked.
If 2 on the same carb don't work, you might need to replace the diaphragm.
Parts available from Eurocarb Reading

Re: twin dellorto choke levers
It's off the road ,yes they were both seized they lift a brass plunger which which had to be tapped out and the bore sanded. Glad I don't need them as the choke cable snapped in the middle, just had to make sure they'd seized in the off position.
