Just an observation really ...there’s a white Sprint Greencloverleaf on eBay that was reduced to £1450 during the week and now the price has gone upto £3450 and there’s just one photo of the rear seats. Strange I thought? Anyone any further knowledge of this car and/or seller?

Yes, I saw it too, was a bit rough.
Same thing happened with a 146 Ti I was watching, sold for 6 or 700 or so a week or so ago, now back on at £1995, they've even used the same pictures!
Just people being chancers..

Same thing with that very rough yellow 1.5 Super, back on again, same pictures, but now in Ashford, Kent, whereas it was previously in Cornwall ! - or has its new owner simply relisted it using the old pictures ?
John.

Yeh it's rough alright (white one), I bought it and I guess he didn't want eBay see he,d avoided fees,so left it on , lots of welding to be done on inner wings and a pillars maybe too much be viable really ,but no rush it'll keep me out of the pub. Anybody got a key i can make work,(take tumblers out) he didn't supply one as advertised.

Welcome to the forum Splant, glad someone is bringing the Sprint back to life. I seem to remember the seller describing ‘good inner wings and floor’, how’s the floor? Lots of good advice and parts available on this forum. Post some more photos if you get a chance!

Floor looks ok , I thought listing said inner wings ok too! But looking at it again I think there was a comma in the wrong place and he meant they need work ,everything is rusty except the flat tyres! Engine does turn but isn't the original and it's done 132,000 not 32,000 for sure as I've been emailing last owner up scotland. I'm still worried I'll find some holes which condemn it completely ,but I'm not a perfectionist by a long sho t and if it can make it till it no longer needs an mot I'll drive it till it snaps in half . I'm up in crummy stoke ,crummy job living on beans on toast ,so it will be the cheapest resto you've ever seen, hopefully! Poor things stuck in the drive under tarpaulin as the garage has 2 rd yamahas im in the process of doing up. Even though it's a thick tarpaulin ,cars still wet with condensation ( i guess) when I pull it off.

Hello Splant, good on you having a go at it. I’m up in north notts, most places are a bit crummy nowadays. Plus I like beans on toast

For some inspiration on how to weld rust and fresh air, look at the threads from Kev here

viewtopic.php?f=19&t=861 Page through to the imp resto

viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1048 A rusty integrale

Which RD’s do you have, lc’s or earlier ? I never progressed past my fizzy :D

Hi ,thanks I'll have a look at them I usually do a lot of pigeon s..t lots of burnt through holes then smooth filler over it to make it look good, Its hard to work out which layer of metal goes where ,and what's the inner wing rail box section for? crash protection or strut strengthening, . Lc,s have gone to dear now,it's the earlier ones I like, and yds7 ,yr5,s , had a run of getting them from d,k, bikes just down the road, doing them up and registering them and making a bit of pocket money.usually get £2800 average . Best days of my life fizzies, I had one same colour but the plastic side panels a 1978 should have been restricted but had a beeline racing kit 70mph easy honest. They fetch more than the rd,s now crazy! How did you get a revcounter to work?

Love the purple and white bike, very 70’s. The fizzy rev counter was just for show from a rd50 :D The Suzuki X1 mags were the best modification. Mine would rev out at 60mph but pulled well with a smaller sprocket, we found a motor cycle news article on how to race tune a fizzy and did all the engine mods and kept it to a 50cc barrel. Lost count of how often I replaced the rings and piston tho.

Wish I still had my first motorised transport, Suzuki AP50 reg number TVL406R. When it needed a new piston we got a 60cc barrel & piston, that allowed me 65mph down Keal Hill chewing the tank cap off

But that’s cheating Kev, mine would pull 60 on the flat on a 50cc, likewise laid on the tank tho and I probably weighed 8 stone while wearing my leather and helmet, and after a massive Sunday dinner....

My fizzy was reg NRB74W. It was a badge of honour to have the fastest 50 in town, and kids from the nearby villages would ride over to ‘race’ and vice versa, it was like a swarm of bees approaching in the distance with the deafening micron exhausts. Scraping the foot pegs was also an essential part of the evenings stupidity...... :D

Takings thing to a new level, I’ll see if I can find a pic of my brothers tuned Honda ‘plag’ 90cc complete with TZ125 racing seat.

My brother started this fizzy, but sold it in bits and someone else finished it....kenny Roberts

My first love was my Yamaha DT50 trail bike I even polished the frame . A guy pestered the b’jeeezers out of me to sell it to him . Next time I saw it about 6mnths later my heart cried as it was basically scrap. Same happened to a Beetle I had. After that I decided I never wanted to see my old cars again. The world is full of jerks

Same here Lou, my first car, a 5m Sud (same orange as my ti) was resprayed with new wings etc.... looked great when I sold it. Months later i saw it parked in a back street in town ,rear panel and bumper all mangled and front spoiler (obviously, i fitted ti spoilers) had been run into a high kerb kinking out the lower halves of the wings. Poor thing looked a wreck. :(

Very slowly im afraid this will be a rough and ready
IMG_20200201_101333.jpg
recommision ,as I plan keeping the car im not bothered how ugly my welds are I've patched the A pillar but wondering if the wing will stand proud ,drivers doors off and been try weld up the metal( or should I say tin foil) where the lock mechanism bolts ,the counter sunk holes had all cracked! There is a few rubber grommets there and the inner skin is covered in waxxy stuff as though it's been treated in the past, would this have been done new at the factory? Can't see any grommits on doors on ebay.

I think it was a treatment dealers offered to try and prevent the dreaded rot taking hold. I know I blasted my Sud with waxoil when I got it back from the paintshop!

That a-pillar looks good, great progress. I’ve done the same job myself, kept checking the alignment by resting the wing back on the wing rail.

Looking good .keep it up . For the welds .you can put a soft disc on a grinder . Really cleans up the weld . I use them when welding ;)
