Inner wings now fully free of all the rubberised original protection, most was in good order but a bit patchy with the odd repair now done so best off starting again. I'll etch prime the bare then stonechip it. Eventually it will be in body colour.
Remarkably the areas where they all seem to rot out is in good order. Usual cracks in the opening where the steering arms go through but the bottom edge still good, seams from the inner bulkhead where they all rust between the two joined seams is very good.
It's had new wing mounting rails fairly recently, welded solidly enough but needs a bit of tidying and sealing to stop it rotting out again.
The drivers door pillar though had some filler visible under the primer, another spot I'd noticed but been ignoring. Best not to get too downhearted in one go!
Time came though to let the knotted wheel have a look. Now it might seem like madness to be going at things with such a nasty harsh tool but it really is a case of it it's solid enough it'll be OK and survive, if it caves in and reveals rot then it needed to be found out anyway.
Of course it was the latter...

Just been to Scholar Racing 96 to pick up my back axle.
My Olympic was originally gel coat white in 1961.
there were 6 Olympics there!!.......one recently finished in Ford Glacier white.....looked stunning!
I had the TVR done in Tangerine, as it was the original colour.
So, maybe have your sud done in its original colour Tim?

You see I wouldn’t touch a tangerine sud but I would in that green colour. Also a fraction too light on tangerine and it becomes pastel in which case it may as well just be beige.
People get lotus’ painted funky colours then they get advertised at 3-4K less than black or blue cars as everyone mentally budgets for a respray.

Yes the metallic green is nice Tim, tough decision choosing a colour, especially if you know you may have to sell it.

Similar happened to me with a lady at work......her first name was either Di , or Ange.

The A post repairs were on the agenda today. After carefully measuring and marking out things like the wing mounting points the outer skin was cut off.
Luckily the inner strengthener was in good condition, just a clean up and treat then some weld through zinc primer later before welding was done.
A new repair section was made up complete with the captive nuts for the wing mounts.
Large clamps used to hold it against the inner reinforcer so plug welds could attach it as before, this patch helps link up between the upper and lower hinge points to help add strength.
All cleaned up nice and smooth ready for the painting.
Sealed up the front wing mounting rails so that can have a couple days to harden off as won't be back there until Friday. Should be soon time to start thinking about getting prepped for primer but as the inside needs painting too there's loads of little areas to tidy up.

I’m Green with envy at your work, I’d be bright Red with embarrassment if you saw my attempts at welding, I went White as a sheet when I burnt a bigger hole than I was welding up. I’m just a(barth) Yellow belly now when it comes to welders.
Note to self : it’s ok, help is on its way, theres a whole (O)range of treatments available for my condition, I hope it’s not contangerineageous......
