Engine mounting
Engine mounting
Does anyone know if the 145/146 boxer used the same front engine mounting as the Sud/33.

Re: Engine mounting
Hi Dave from memory it was very similar and may even be suitable for suds however the base plate was different (see pic)

Re: Engine mounting
Would that be a stronger set up than the original Sud type?

Re: Engine mounting
Don’t know about stronger Dave it was probably done to counter the torque reaction due the to the engine and box being mounted differently in the 145/6 to the Sud . I seem to recall they didn’t have the big centre mounting but a had small mount in each side of the box and the front one as pictured

Re: Engine mounting
Dave, mine was perishing / splitting side to side so had more play than we liked. We made a plate for the top of the rubber, drilled through the rubber each end , counter sunk the plate for stud heads, and bolted through to hold it all together under tension. Still using it on my race car.

Good batting Thinkman!
Re: Engine mounting
I did exactly the same thing on the Green Machine after the rubber de-bonded from the bottom plate. Seems OK after 23,000 miles of road use...Veesix75 wrote:Dave, mine was perishing / splitting side to side so had more play than we liked.
