Nice one. Good to see progress on another rare model, and another great colour.

Thanks guys. It's former UK car, I have it since June 2008.
Colour (Florentine copper) is very period and staying.
It's a budget resto in that a lot of the original stuff is going back on.
I'm changing the seats to 916GTV series one fronts (charcoal grey)
and rears are a leather/alcantara mix from a 33.
Will keep the updates coming as I get them from the bodyshop.
Mechanically it needs belts, oil+filter change.
4 brakelines, and to get the clutch master cylinder working.
I did replace this but it's leaking and not holding pressure.

You have my sympathy - although it is great fun..... Looking great and look forward to seeing your progressing too.

Just in case - I have a set of Phase 1 GTV charcoal leather seats available if you need them (have the rears too that you could use for material if need be). The drivers side has had a bolster repair but they are in good overall condition.

Thanks lad. I have the seats and priced the original rears to be recovered with leather from 156 recaros.
Too dear and too permanent. Want to keep the originals just in case.
Good friend of mine who has a stunning 83 ti green cloverleaf donated the 33 rear seat....

No bother. FOr what it's worth I have managed to get the GTV rear seats to fit in the back of my Sprint. Yes, they are narrower, however if you get a couple of the plastic centre sections, half them and from there you have the infill for either side :-)

I did see that, nice work, especially matching with your headlining.
It will all be a voyage of discovery and (re-discovery) getting the interior back in!

Thanks Kev. I was looking for your opinion re the relative quality of the work. It’s not Mr Metcalfe standard but the time and price reflect that. Looking forward to putting it back together.
I was told Owatrol oil for the bumpers. What would you recommend?

Yes, you're bang on there re the price of making accurate repairs that need minimal filling, it costs a lot in time therefore money!
The main thing is to make sure the rust is chopped out and new metal let in to create a stable base to add to, I know of a few folks (not anyone on here I hasten to add!) that merely knock the rust in, lather fibre glass filler over the rust then fill to shape. Looks great with shiny paint on, not so good in 3 months when the blisters pop up. Striking the right balance between time/money is usually the consideration but as long as it's done right then that's the key.

For the bumpers the stuff I found best was the CarPlan stuff

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Trim-W ... SwsXFZNYJ-

Often found it in places like Poundworld or Wilco's

A friend of mine also uses waste engine oil on cheaper cars he sells! Works terrifically well but don't sell it to a guy in cricket whites :D

I agree with Kev.
The main thing is to definitely ensure that all of the rust rust's chopped out of corroded panels and new metal let in.
My own resto' project suffered in places with the rusty panels being hammered/bashed in with multiple layers of filler rammed in to cover the rust then sanded to shape. Also, I echo Kev's thoughts that as long as the job's done right you'll be smiling rather than waiting for all the rot to come through again, which it inevitably will.
I've been lucky. By informing the bodyshop that time was not immportant and agreeing that the work on my Sprint could be done between their 'bread and butter' accident repair work, I've got a top quality job at a reasonable price so I'm happy.
I'll be happier still when I do eventually get it back though.....
Keep up the good work bud. I love that colour too. :D

Thanks Kev. I should be picking it up on Saturday.
I plan to get clear Waxoyl (probably aerosol) I think I have a paint nozzle(?) to spray the inside of the doors, inside those crossmembers(?)
on the floor and any other places you guys suggest (the inside of the wings have been painted by Walter already).
I'll get the bumper black stuff too.
I have them in my lock up so I'll do them before refitting them.

Getting very excited!!!

That looks fantastic. Your body work guy doesn't hang around!
I would use something like Dinitrol over Waxoyl though. I think it works better.
