Alfasud Shock absorbers

Post by Ted27sud »

Hi All, my Sprint Veloce really could do with a set of shocks front and rear and I am struggling to find anyone with anything for sale or any suitable alternatives.

Can anyone on here please shove me in the right direction please? I have been told that if I can find a set of early (rebuild able) Konis that they could be re-valved/adjusted to mimic standard shocks. I don't want the car modified (I know where that leads......)

Thanks in advance,

Ted

Had a really good response from GAZ.

They just need some donor cases.

Last time i had Konis rebuilt they were struggling to get spares for them, tok 3 attempts and cost a fortune. GAZ was £40 all in

I second the Gaz recommendations Ted,

a decent price and turnaround usually, and will make them a far more current product than the koni's that haven't been listed on anything other than 33's and later for a long long time,

that said, some folk have reported finding some stock in the last year or so, but once bought whether they'd be interested in maintaining them down the line is another matter i guess.

Theres always Leda in its current business guise too possibly?

Thanks all. I've heard both good and bad about Gaz, Spax, Avo, etc that I really just think; go down a certain route and make my own mind up!
Did have a chat with Leda and they might be able to help and suggested the Konis rebuilt so, if you have some Looloo that would be great.
Cheers, Ted

If Ted is not interested then I would be.

I have just got my front suspension in bits and these are the same as I have on at the moment but one of them is knackered so I will have to send it off for repair.

Cheers

My experience with AVO is extremely poor. When I phoned to enquire about struts for the 33after having trouble with getting the koni,s serviced, the guy just laughed when I told him what it was for and what I was doing with the car. He asked why I was bothering to use something like that. He wasn't interested when I told him that over the previous two years i had been 2nd and 3rd overall in the Heart of England Rally Championship winning my class in the process. It turned out i had spoken to the owner. Won't be calling them again.

The Konis you need Ted are 86-1866, the 86-2303 are series 3 Green Cloverleaf Suds that had Spica units originally, so ok for Daves car.

Last time i had my Koni's rebuilt it took 3 attempts as they couldntget the spares for them. They ended up getting hold of some other old units to cannibalise for the parts needed for mine.
Thats why i ended up going for GAZ.

Yep, got to say Shaun of S.P did a fantastic job for me, rebuilt my Konis’ and got them back to me within the week. They are running a treat on my late Sprint 1.7 Q.V.

Shaun did my fronts, found they were fine and sent them back after testing. Small fee as well.

Honest and good service. :D
