another long day but well worth it.

started off early doors and sanded off the rest of repaired roof section plus a few bits like the door shuts, Pauls' help was a great bonus.
then we had some tidying to do! what a mess :)

car re-masked, de-greased and wiped down then everything repositioned just so, hardly an inch to spare in the unit

rear hatch was a bit tricky as the underside has far more bare metal on show than I'd thought so with the inner window frame painted we flipped it over so I could paint the outside, couldn't have done that on my own, an extra pair of hands today made all the difference

anyway, this is the finished result....

yeah I've just bought a new primer gun . 2.5 tip . eBay, great for high build . Plus if you want a cheap touch in gun . The £10 .8 tip guns are brilliant. Had a few . You turn them down to a fine line . Close to an airbrush. Great little guns ;)

has been 3 12 hour days or thereabouts mate, i'm knckered! we're off to donington tomorrow for some BSB action so a day off at last!

the unit was previously used by a shot blast guy who installed a ruddy great extractor fan and handily left it there :) in my little unit it sucks the air out pretty well, do have to plan where & when I make the order to spray though but clears the air within a few mins

funnily enough I've ordered a gun with a bigger nozzle last night just for the filler primer, chickened out on the 2.5mm and ordered a 2mm one...hope it will be an improvement on the 1.3mm i'd been using!

seen those cheap .8mm ones, might order one for little blow in jobs as you say, be handy for small local repairs like a scratch or a corner scab 8-)

It will be Kev. We use a cheap "Fast mover" for primer. Gives a good wide fan but still puts it on thick and even. They do wear out but it all depends on use. We use gallons of primer.

Good to see it how it was, so once Kev has done his magic with the paint (I will be helping flatting and polishing later today with him) it will look a million dollars.
Then comes the rebuild, so I will keep the pics as a driver to get it done, hopefully ready for the Italy trip in Sept.

Is that the white one that was on that face book link?
There seems to be a bit of a resurgence of the humble 33 at the moment with a few popping up here and there and guys here with the odd project too.

fairly productive day, makes life so much easier with an extra pair of hands so more done than I'd usually hope to get finished.

managed to get the roof, bonnet, front doors and rest of shell flatted and polished up, at least most of the stages of polishing. still a couple of stages of finishing to go but the surface is now nice and flat with the shine coming back

paul did have a fright though, gave him the task of using a DA sander with the 3000 grit trizact discs on to go over all the freshly flatted paintwork, quite a nervy thing on the freshly painted surface. when he shouted out that he'd burnt through the paint on the bonnet we both feared a bonnet repaint was in order, until we spotted it was a sunlight reflection causing a very convincing line right at the swage line! panic over, but was a nervy time for him :)

 we all have those moments every now and then!

The white p4 on Facebook belongs to guy called luke, not a million miles from me in notts. Its cheap but its also swiss cheese, so I'm in no rush for another project that needs 13yards of steel!

Thankfully, the p4 coming back to me is the one i put 13yards of steel in some years ago! :P

So had a great day with Kev and has he said had a scare with the bonnet, phew damn sun and blue skys!!!!! playing trick on me.
Looking forward to getting the polishing finished and the masking off doors back on etc.
Another dilemma I am having right now is the suspension, so going back to the standard 14" wheels as per Shrews photo instead of the 16's its currently on but having put new springs on the front I feel it may be sat too high, so I have now got (delivered today) some lowering springs, 30mm lower back and front, but now I am unsure whether to fit them or not.
So talking to Kev we think it might best to see how it sits first with the wings temporally re hung, before I decide what to do as I don't really want it to look too boy racer but on the other hand don't want a massive gap above the wheels. Thoughts?
