Are you still going with the original "musty yellow" ? and isn't she old enough to of had the rubber mats instead of carpet ??

Keep up the excellent work - yours and mine are like "chalk and cheese", yours will be so Original and will be so "UN original"

As for the rest of you S1 owners -- it'll be the largest gathering of s1's next year for sure

WELL DONE ALL

Hi Harvey,
Yes planning on doing it the original colour, it has carpet, I think all SI Ti's had carpets only the early saloons had the rubber mats but i'm not 100% sure on that.
Cheers,
Adi

yep, as far as i know the ti's all had carpet. the lesser models had the rubber mats. wish i could find a genuine carpet though, have a feeling i will be trying to re-create the colour onto the black one i have..

All ti's had carpet. Only the first 4 door versions and the Alfasud N had rubber mats :)

...... a bit off track but thought i'd meantion this as I know a few of you other Italian fans would be interested....
I picked up a Fiat Fiorino pick-up a month or so ago, here are some photos:

IMG_0431.JPG
IMG_0430.JPG
I have been doing some work on it over a last few weeks, all interior has been out and a couple of floor repairs done, trim all restored, seat were beyond it so fitting some seats from a Fiat Doblo etc etc.
This will be my daily driver so waxoyl everywhere as I go along doing jobs around it. Its a 1.7D non turbo, ex. farm vehicle done about 73K. Apparently these were made is brazil only a few came here and it was based on the Brazilian Fiat 147 which was similar to the Uno but not identical

Brilliant!

I'd love to stay a little more "in house" commercial vehicly speaking, If only it would pull my car trailer!

Looks like my next van will have to be Ducato i think.

Agree with JB, uno turbo power would be usefull, OR, 2.4 JTD! :o :o :o

I'm sure we're getting mightily carried away Adi, but nice find and well done, you do dig them out eh! lol!

Its superb on fuel (diesel or whatever else you wish to put in it ;) ) it seems to do 45-50mpg, 1700cc non turbo, the only think I would say is a pain is the very heavy steering although that could be down to something tight somewhere, a truckman top was available back in the day, hoping one turns up somewhere or I will have to get a new toneau cover made for it

...... It already has a towbar :D
I had never been welded (well until I fired up the Murex :) )
very little rust on it, mostly on the bolt on panels, I did 2 small floor repairs while I had all the interior out, all interior is now back in and a pair of seats from a fiat doblo fitted, the rest has cleaned up really well, I will stick a picture up
It came with a years MOT which I think his mate must have done :D but it gives me a head start on keeping it on the road and improving it as I go around it

Yes Uno turbo engine would be fun but scary, the doors are only about 2" thick, i'd like to draw my pension at some point !
apparently this 1700 non turbo diesel is good for about 250k  so probably just stick with that, for now at least.....
It should be good in the snow if we get any as its on big boy 165's on 13" wheels !

Ok time for an update on this project....

First of all thanks to Gary for letting me have a R/H inner wing panel at a very fair price, thanks mate ;)

The first job before beginning cutting was to take some accurate measurements at the strut top, I fitted a top plate to the turret top and welded a screw to the scuttle area and took some measurements....

I decided to weld a couple of blocks to the existing wing mounting rail to give the new panel something to sit down onto so the correct height would be guaranteed....
IMG_0512.JPG
As some of you can remember I had already repaired all the lower areas of the inner wing and I didn't want to undo all that work so a decision was made to join the panel with a jodelled overlap joint, seem welded both sides for strength
IMG_0513.JPG
The panel had a bit of surface rust on it due to its age so I carefully ground all that off after cutting it and preparing the lower edges with the jodelling tool

Adi, your picture with your hand through the inner wing looks like a nasty crime scene
That panel was a nice find.
Great work.

I also took a measurement to the other side strut top before cutting......

New panel etch primed, some will burn off I know but most will be fine after welding

The wing mounting rail was now about to fall off so I had to weld a reinforcing bracket to it :D
IMG_0540.JPG
After much messing around I got the panel to fit and I could begin welding it into place
IMG_0572.JPG
the seam welded joint was carefully ground back to allow for an invisible repair but retain its strength
IMG_0575.JPG
......then some etch primer

Some sealant over the lap joint from the other side....
IMG_0574.JPG
I sanded this down after 24hrs and added some coats of brush on zinc phosphate primer, this was then sanded down and now looks neat and hardly noticeable

I also seam welded around the turret

Now the front section...
IMG_0578.JPG
IMG_0582.JPG
and the job is almost done.....
IMG_0584.JPG
IMG_0585.JPG
IMG_0587.JPG
There is a little area to do beneath the bumper mounting area and new captive nuts to fit and then make a new section to the edge of the centre bulkhead to take it back up to the wing mounting rail

Thanks :) The other side will be easier I guess as I already have the panel so I will replace the whole panel in one go

I rechecked all the dimensions as I was doing it and all of them are within 1mm - 2mm even the one from the other side of the car so I am very happy with it
I now need a R/H wing mounting rail if anyone has one? I already have one for the other side but need one for this side

Brilliant work, really good stuff! The standard of workmanship on this thread and every other build/restore thread on here is really fantastic! It's going to be great to see all these projects come to fruition! :)
