Non return valves

With a mechanical fuel pump on the sud, the fuel drains back to the tank after a while, and can make starting difficult at this time of year.
I did fit a non return valve near the tank, but it failed shut!

Probably because it was cheap on Ebay.

I would like to fit a decent quality 8mm one.

Any suggestions?
