Sud or Sprint

Post by rsfruitbat »

friend of mine (who has had a few Alfa's) wants to build a road / trackday car for his daughter and him to use.
Hes already done it once then sold it but hes got the urge again.

Hes fairly handy with a welder but dont think he has the time for a basket case.

If you know of anything then please give me a shout and i will pass info on

I'm keeping mine......currently deluding myself about a fast road build, more likely to sit in the garage for a few more years after Kev has worked his magic, however it's staying with me for now.

There an ex sud racer on eBay , it's needs work and shrew can describe it as it was in his garden for a while at one stage.

Ah yes, the ex Colin Wing car wasn't it?

Yes its been round the houses a little bit in the last few years :D

It was good and solid in many places, sill and floor work i think were the main priorities iirc but it is worth saving i reckon.

Hi Shrew.

He has specifically said about a Sud or Sprint, preferably a Sud. We discussed 33's and is going to sound his daughter out but thought it unlikely.

Liam - i think your car is much too high a spec for him and a lot out of his price range, sorry.

veesix75 - thanks for letting me know

Shrew - he has been in contact with the owner of the race Sud but negotiations havent gone smoothly but it is still an option

Might have a sprint that satisfies this requirement. It is actually my lads but he's not using the sprint and it's been on sorn since last spring. It works fine but has an electrical issue with lights and wipers - prob the switch gear on the steering column. He doesn't look like fixing it and I would rather it didn't expire quietly in a corner of the drive. It is insured with agreed valuation of £1500 It has featured in threads on this site.

Have a look and if you are interested I will have a word with my Son.

photos look better than RL but is basically sound and runs well. It was stripped for a track car, sold before completed, rebuilt as a road car by AlfaDave on here, bought by me and subsequently given to my Son. It would have failed MOT in Jan on electrics so I sorned it and it has been sitting ever since. Prior to that it was my lads daily driver.

I bought it locally as a project a few years ago.Shell was straight and accident free.
Stripped it to a bare shell, and had all the welding done.....wing rails,A posts, cills, rear arches, floors.
The rear valance and bulkhead had been done previously.....to a solid but not high standard.
I fitted an 80k 95 bhp engine on which I had replaced the rings and big end shells...ran nice when it left me.
Decent clutch and gearbox.
Copper brake/fuel pipes.
I put a good s/h bonnet and hatch on it.....but my DIY spray can paint job on them is poor!
Decent seats.
Was going to use it regularly, but a Montecarlo came up round the corner, and Steve bought it from me.
Sounds like it could easily pass an MoT with minor electrics sorting.
Certainly not a minter, but a solid fun car.

Exactly how I would describe it, Dave. It's good fun to drive.

For a Road car there's a bit still to do but for the track it is good to start the project. I had the rear shocks replaced last year, it has new tyres, a front driveshaft was replaced and I put the green carpet in it. No engine or gearbox issues in the time I've had it. All the problems have been electrics!
