I'll be there but in my Formula Ford not Alfa I'm afraid.

See you there Ian.

I will be there with the Trofeo subject to the gearbox final drive change going well. Not expecting any probs.

Malcolm is looking to go with the Sprint.

I think Chris is looking to go with the 1.5SC.

Good luck to all racing at Rockingham this weekend.
I will be over at Castle Combe on Monday 4th May hopefully mixing it with the Capri's, Firenza's etc in round 2 of the CTCRC meet.
The Alfasuds will be in two races, race 5 and race 12 as per the schedule below. The action will be on Motors TV.
Cheers, Malcolm

Does anybody know where you would find the entry list for Castle Combe???? it would be quite nice to know who has entered, whats in your Class, how many Fords will you have to try & not run into going into a corner :) Can't workout which Championships are racing with us either,BARC say pre-66 pre-83 & pre-05 but I also got an email from CTCRC saying pre-66 & pre 83 42 car grid!
Hi Simon is the Trofeo coming out to play?? hope so, :D Looks like Malcolm's out in the Sprint what about the SC?
Four Suds out that would be nearly 10% of the grid... ;)

Hi Ian
Just rang Nicola at BARC and she kindly sent me the entries as of now. Entry closes tomorrow so this list should be pretty much it. I was hoping that the alfa numbers might have gone up by at least a third but maybe Duxford has tired them out!
Personally I am praying for rain. See you there. Malcolm

See you all there. Had a succesful day testing yesterday. For the record I will be in a class a Crossle 32F not my 16F.

Had an oil pump failure after 10 laps but switched off before any bad noises were heard. Team worked hard to replace whole oil system and checked engine which seemed fine.

Ran two sessions in the afternoon and got under the lap record - 1min 15.05 seconds (lap record was 1min 15.2) so was mildly pleased. My team mate who is in another league of quick got 1 min 14 dead so I've still got some work to do.

See you all on Monday!

Excellent results from you guys today, excellent Alfa showing in both televised races - there was plenty of footage Simons' Trofeo :-). Three strong finishes in both races headlined by a fantastic 6th overall for Malcolm - well done all!

Ted - great drive through the field in Race 2, looked really good fun!

Hi All,

Congratulations Bryan to a great result at Rockingham on Saturday.

At Castle Combe, Malcolm and Ian drove brilliantly. Very well done. Me..............not so much. I had a lot of fun but I got too close to the edge of the track at the fastest point of the circuit (unforced) and spun. Just had a look at the in car footage and I feel a bit sick watching it. God shines, and no damage to anyone else, me or any cars. The Trofeo goes really well. Fantastic job thanks Tom (BLS). I think the car is very capable of producing some good times for a 1300cc if you keep it on-song. I enjoyed the second, very wet race much more but still a little too lairy at times.
I will post a few video links up of in-car footage. My son is having a laugh putting them together and taking the mickey. They are very tongue-in-cheek. I reckon the Alfas sound great around the track.

Congratulations to Ted for a fantastic Formula Ford drive in race 2 scything through the pack.

All the best,
Simon

It was great racing to watch, I saw the back end of the afternoon from Ted's classic FF race onwards. It was exciting stuff.

Well done Malcolm, the rain master ! And Ian managed to pass the v12 Jag!

Be interested in the Sprint shock/spring set up, and also compared to your Trofeo Simon (harder, softer etc).

The suds got a mention from the commentators a couple of times, the camera focussed on Malcolm for quite a bit, and Simons spin(s) also got a personal mention from Butler-Henderson.

Plenty of vids please Simon, we all like to watch them.

Send him to his room !!

Very good, thanks for sharing. :D :D

So glad you didn't hit anything Simon. I was so worried when I saw you sideways and so relieved when I could see the car was un damaged.

Couldn't find you in the paddock.

The car really does sound fantastic. 8-)

Good day had by all.

Cheers.

Thanks for the comments guys.
A great day at Castle Combe, one dry race and one wet one.
I will admit that Ian in his Alfasud ti was my target for race one but he was off like a rocket at the start and through my own cautiousness I put myself in amongst a gaggle of pre 66's. A fun race and I soon settled down behind one of three Lotus Cortina's. A very smoky one, dropping oil/smoke at high revs, my screen was spattered. Had a great time slowly picking off the Cortina's and also a mini!

Race two was what I had secretly been praying for. Silverstone had built my confidence in the car in the wet and I now knew that the Sprint was quite useful in the slippery conditions.
I had a better getaway off the start for this race and it wasn't too long before I was chasing the back-end of the yellow Firenza again as per the Silverstone race.

Here are some links, timings/classifications, race 1 and 2 on-board. Sorry they are long but my video editing skills only go so far!
Points I will take from watching the video's are to be more brave on the brakes and get some passes done early in the races. Also get some ventilation on the screen for the wet races, you will see in race 2 that everything starts to disappear because of the fog on the screen. First time at Castle Combe though and had great fun!

Well done to Bryan and Ted in their races, looks as through the weather was similar up at Rockingham, just on different days.

Malcolm, no need to edit your clips down they are fantastic to watch.
Your little Sprint is great. So good to see the racing from inside , on track in the thick of it.
Ian doesn't hang around does he ? :D
Thanks for sharing it with us all. 8-)

Hi Keith,
Glad you like it.
Sorry we missed you. When we arrived there was no space with the CTCRC cars. After entering we turned left into a grass paddock in amongst the MG Owners.

All the best,
Simon

Great videos.

Less heavy metal and just plain old engine metal as the soundtrack please.
