Cyprus Time Attack Championship

Post by AlfaCorseChris »

It's our country's annual official Time Attack Championship, taking place at the only race track we have in Cyprus and its a 6 day event throughout the year.

First one was last Sunday, where we took a few Alfas to compete with the beemers, a Honda Civic and a Corolloa 16v GT at the classic car division.

Classic car division is not actually Classic cars, but cars that were made from the year 1990 and before.
Some modifications are allowed, but nothing too dramatic.

You are only allowed to use wheels up to 1" bigger than what the car came with , so if your car came on 14's or 15's with special wheels, you can go up to 16" ones.
Then the tyres must not be wider than 245, the engine must be the one the car came with OR an engine variation that came with that car - so if you have a 1.5 Sprint you can put a 1.7 8v engine in it etc.

Interior must all be in, lightening not allowed, semi slicks allowed, cams etc allowed, brakes free, suspension free (as long as you dont alter the chassis).

So....

I took my white 33, my red 33 and my 2.0 carby 75 with 2 friends driving them to compete with the rest of the lot, and also some very good friends, one with an Alfasud 1300, another with a Sprint S2 etc.

Results werent bad, but could be better.
This is the first race at such an event for most of us anyway.

Some modifications and improvements need to be made on all cars, so I can keep you posted as we go along.

Next race is on the 5th of April, so lots to do and time is pressing.

Here are some pictures :)

Nice one Chris,

Looks like the 33 body roll issue is vastly improved over last year?

That it has, and I'm not finished yet.

Also, I no longer have the tyre side walls rubbing 8-)

When I fit the rear sway bar and by stiffening the rear konis to full stiff, I believe it will be as flat as it gets

OH !!! On another note, guess what I just found out ?

The other guy with the red S2 33, had Bilstein B6 rear shocks !!!
...and I was like... WHAAAAAA ???????

They came off a BMW E30 !
Apparently they are a direct fit !!!!!!!

....currently looking for a facepalm smiley....
