Hi Bryan,
Here are the engine details I have been sent:

ALFASUD TI Group 2 1974.
Car was built by a famous Italian handcraft man Mr. Ciarcelluti of Pescara, starting by the classic Autodelta kit with aerodinamic kit and 8" x 13 special rims, air into pipes, cammes, forged pistons, ecc.

Lightweight crankshaft, nitrided and balanced;
Rods new series but turned properly to the foot and head, balanced and polished;
Lightened flywheel and balanced;
80.4 mm forged pistons from new dell'Autodelta;
Compression ratio 11.8 / 1;
Main bearings and connecting rod of the special type trimetalliche;
Oversized oil pump and modified version of the 1500
Alfasud trophy cup oil;
Shorts control valves replaced with the type registration with tablets;
Intake manifolds marked Autodelta;
intake and exhaust widened and polished;
41mm intake valves;
Exhaust valves 36 mm;
Camshafts Autodelta;
Intake and exhaust valve seats made of sintered steel;
Engine RPM 8600;
Max power at rpm 7200 - 7400;
Power 150 hp;
Exhaust pipe 4-2-1 stainless steel manufactured by Ruini Maranello;
Candles Champion type N57 - N59 G - N84G;
Valve springs provided by Autodelta;
Weber 48 IDF carburetors;
Front and rear stabilizer bar;
Original AUTODELTA gearbox rations: 1 - 13/37; 2 - 17/33; 3 - 22/33; 4 - 24/30; 5- 26-28;
Bevel 7/37 provided by Autodelta;
Self-Locking Colotti to 50%;
Disc clutch in copper.
The car has been restored from what has never raced and has yet to be done to the engine break-in

I thought they were just a one-off until I saw the Trofeo. Same pattern, 4-stud PCD and 8 vents.

Any ideas what they might be? I think I need a set - 7 x 15", ET15 preferably!

Hi Simon, saw yor comment on the other thread that the trofeo is off to BLS.

Also, will Malcolm be racing with the other Sud or the Sprint this year?

Hi Veesix75,
The plan this year is for me to race the Trofeo & Malcolm & Chris to drive the 1.7 16V Sprint & the 1.5 SC. I think they will alternate for each race on these cars.
So three Alfasuds. We need some of the top Sud drivers, Alfa 33 drivers to come out to play and put us three newbies in our place.

Excellent, well that makes 4 of us at least, 5 if adblacksud (Adam?) can make a few

The last time I saw 4 suds/sprints together was at Silverstone in 2003, all suds and all 4 were white! I was one of them.

I am going to enquire about the invitation class with the HSCC also just to try and squeeze in Cadwell and perhaps another Donington event.

Are you aiming for Silverstone last weekend in March?

Looking forward to it, and need I to get the Sprint out of the garage and start to check it over, the time will zoom by.

oh now thats very nice, what a great car 8-) iv always wanted to see one of these trofeo's up close. Hopefully ill get to see it on the track sometime over the next couple of years :D

I had the great fortune to be able to meet Simon this morning, and get all over this beautiful Trofeo Sud, as he delivered it to the Maestro himself, Tom at BLS.


What a fantastic car, and Simon is clearly and quite rightly very pleased to have managed to source and buy such a car.

I only took photos of it on the trailer i'm afraid, but the astonishing thing is its overall condition, particularly considering the part time usage for rally stages, it really is incredible that it has stayed good i think.

If i'd photographed the underside etc whilst it was up in the air on tom's ramp, and i was getting all nerdy and pervy with the exhaust, you'd see what i mean! :lol:

I was also fortunate enough to meet Simon and see his fabulous Trofeo in the flesh today - All I can say is WOW - What a fabulous car!

I'd also like to thank Tom and BLS for their time and hospitality today - Tom really is the fountain of all knowledge on Boxer engines.

Hi Guys

Pleasure to meet you all today. Thanks for making me so welcome.
Tom called this afternoon and is compiling a to do list to ensure the car is safe, complies with the regs and is operating sweetly. I think it is in great hands at BLS.

He pointed out that the compression ratio is very high at 11.5 : 1 and the importance of using top quality fuel and ensuring the ignition timing is spot on as it is a basic distributor system.

Simon, you will not find better than BLS! Superb work every time!

Your Sud looks superb - I would love to unearth a genuine Trofeo car. Along with a series 1 Ti, etc, etc.......

It would be fascinating to get your feedback after you have driven it. Would you consider doing a write up for Richard Murtha at AROC.?

If you're going to let Twinkle Toes Ted test her, you'd perhaps be better leaving that passenger seat in for the time being Simon, and get some Cadwell tuition foc whilst you're at it :?:

Its something that i'd also like to do once my sud is finished, letting Ted and Bryan lose around Cadwell or Donnington in her, from my point of view it'd be about the only time it'd be driven properly! lol! :lol:

Simon, that's a fantastic offer and I'd love to help if I can. Just let me know when and I'll be there! How about I bring my Race Sud along so we can compare and contrast?

Tom will, without doubt, set the car up so that it will be quick straight out of the box with a decent set up. You'll not find better.

Shrew, I couldn't imagine being at Cadwell without you! I'll even bring my 'plimsols'!! :lol:

Hi Ted,

Its a deal. So, Cadwell Park, both cars and I will leave my passenger seat in (good idea Shrew). You drive both and I will sit in and make notes on the difference, take pics and produce an article which you can edit, modify, approve before we give it to Richard. Bryan can have a go if he would like to seeing as his dad is setting it up. Maybe you want to sit in on that one Shrew.
