Alfashop Championship Cadwell 14/15th June. 2014

Hi all

Thought I'd try to do a small commentary on this weekends racing event, with our adopted and local race team, BLS Automotive and their fantastic 33.

I arrived at the circuit around 8pm ladt night, and gingerly edged the 33 off the trailer, now suffering with a failed winch! Tut!

All was good though, air bed inflated, tea consumed, beers cracked, assortment of 3quid asda dvd titles, and I'm sorted for the night.

Saturday morning, miserable damp in the air managed to turn to drizzle and dampen everywhere, but 9am now, damp still hanging a little, but should dry off in plenty of time.

Just prepping now for scutineering, nothing really to do, as Toms prep as usual is 100% on the ball, so really its little more than a leather off, bumper/splitter on, and a check over.

More soon...

Down to scrutineering, which is never a drama with the BLS car, but you just never know who or what youre going to get in personality, even though the cars are compared to a guide book each time.

Today, they comnented that it should be the benchmark amd example of exactly how a car should be!

Which is nice, well done Tom :D

Drizzle amd mist?

Damp track, some dry line, and qualifying shortly, what to do?

Bryan has some brand new Hankook wets, se we fir a couple in preperation, but by the time the jacks out of the nearside, the sun is breaking through, and the temperature has risen 10 degrees in as many minutes.

Back on with the slicks then! Lol!

And were pole!

1.42.176, better by a reasonable margin to second etc.

Fingers crossed for the weather to hold now, and we should get a decent race result.

:P

Well done Tom and Bryan,

Stunning car, excellently driven, win by 30 seconds!

Not bad for (almost) the oldest car here!

Boxers, theyre still as potent today as they always were!

To finish first, first you must finish....

but if you can stick it up the rest of them while you are finishing, more power to your elbow say I.

Brilliant result guys

All the best rsfruitbat

Thanks chaps

All to do again today, but sundance first!

Currently damp all around but the course itself is 3/4 dry on the racing line.

Wets are at the ready but hopefully not needed. If it does come down at all, i think the punto, will be the car to beat by all accounts.

Fingers crossed...

Yes mate, the double indeed.

Although the weather has been threatening at times, come the race, it all couldnt have gone better.

2nd race, started with what appears to be bryans characteristically sympathetic approach to coaxing th e 33 off the line, and I'd be just the same.

I love the bls 33 almost as much as they do, its awesome, but with the qualifying times and race one conditions repeated, a reasonable start should be sufficient to ensure another chance of outright success, so why blow the clutch unnecessarily?

So the punto of Alistair Kellet got a flyer and crept ahead only to be pegged back once the 33 was safely under way and deploying full armoury!

Bryan cooly and calmy then powered away from the field as in race 1, dominant throughout, and noone able to match the 33's pace.

Behind him were some decent scraps, and valiant efforts all round, but at the end of the day, the BLS preparation, dedication, cadwell experience and racing prowess proved way too difficult to match.

Considering some mighty rivals, bryan and the 33 were just far too strong this weekend,

And long may it continue :D

Anglesey race circuit next, early august, info can be found on the brscc and Alfashop Championship info sites.

Im not going to say anything about the welsh coast weather :?

hi all

yes it was a fantastic weekend, that apart from a few shaky moments of weather, couldn't have gone any better.

as for video's, i didn't really do much, but you might enjoy this one, with a bit of a fly by from the BLS 33, the Punto Abarth of Alistair Kellet in 2nd, and the glorious noise of the Avon Racing 75 V6

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMVdJAa ... e=youtu.be

and later in the same race, i did a quick clip over the line to show the margin by which Bryan won race 2, even with his sympathetic driving, the 33 in the dry was just untouchable this weekend, and the 2nd place Punto crosses the line almost a minute later!

Well done Bryan and Tom! Really pleased for BLS - bet the car didn't miss a beat?

I was keeping an eye on events from Thruxton where I was out in the Formula Ford.

Was hoping to get the Sud out at Cadwell on the 27th July but the Missus has booked a holiday!

Never mind.

Cheers all, Ted
