Trying to figure out how I have just spent 6hrs doing all the connecting up and I have still got probably 2hrs work left to finish it off :(
Haven't really had problems, just one of those days where she's fought me every step of the way.

Given up for today now. Try again tomorrow.

Morning
Glad you got there in the end. I know how you feel . Put new disks and pads on the GT. Driver's side was a pain. Over tightened star drive bolts . knackered the bit. Sorted now .
Good luck next weekend :D

Thanks Gents.

Kev - have you got Rockingham on your diary for this year? 9th and 10th of December.

It would be great to see some more people there after last year.
After Rallyday the next event on the plan is at Oulto n Park on Nov 4
The 33's then going to the C!assoc Car Show at the NEC for the following weekend.
If all that goes ok then next stop Rockingham :D and

If you are able to get there this time Kev just look for the Alfa flag in the service area.

She lives

Had a good day at Castle combs yesterday. Wifey drove in the morning and I had the afternoon sessions
Gearbox is a bit notchy but ok.
Rest of the car worked well and we didn't get thrown out for noise this year despite the exhaust being exactly the same as last year!

Is there anywhere you can look for what lines should be taken for corners? They had put red cones out for braking points. I think you would have had to have had dustbin lids for brakes if you were going to use them. That or a lot more braver / skilful than me :D

Next event is the Neil Howard stages at Oulton Park on Nov 4th

Here you go:-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eIZVvnm7xg

As I'm sure you found, it's very fast and (for us circuit racers) very bumpy on the way down to Quarry. I was getting airborne over the bumps and pulling 8200rpm in 5th on the run to Quarry last year. Of course, it's probably pan flat from a rallying perspective :)

I'm only 20 mins from Oulton so if I'm around on the 4th I may well come and have watch, I went to that event two year ago.

Thanks BS.

What bumps????? Only thing that registered was the rumble strips!!!
You are right about it being fast though. We saw 93mph and about 7500rpm.

If you can make it it would be great to say hello and you are welcome to a cuppa.
Any tips on oulto n park?

Were you doing full laps of Castle Combe - or variations with cone chicanes, etc? If full laps, what sort of laptimes?

I've got my own notes on Oulton from a 33's point of view - I'll type them up here during the week.

Thanks for that.
They didn't give any official lap times as it was run under trackday regs.
No cones or chicanes, just the normal circuit.
Each session was about 10mins they said and we did about 10 miles. Thinking about it now we could have done something with a stop watch

Off to Oulton Park this weekend for the Neil Howard Stages on Saturday if anyone is that way.
Look for the Alfa flag in the service area and come and say hello.

We are car 96 (last car). That'll teach me to put the seeding info on the entry form.

After that the 33 is off to the NEC for the Classic motor show (as long as its still drivable?)

All being well last event of the year will Rockingham at the start of December. Praying for snow this year!

Hi Guys.

Well we survived. She is back home and in one piece. For a rally based on a circuit she got incredibly dirty and muddy.

Like Oulton Park but event wasnt quite as i was expecting.

Night before didnt go too well as in the early hours of the morning the Gazebo decided to collapse due to the weight of the rain water. Made some improvised repairs to see me through to daylight but the problem is you are then lay there listening for every creak in case it is going to fail completely.

Anyway it didnt. Up an about before 6am with service crew turning up at 7:30ish.

The infield section / rallycross circuit looked interesting in the daylight with lots of people spinning, big slides etc. We had been warned the night before that it was like driving on glass in the dry so add steady rain overnight.....
Circuit was run anticlockwise for the first 4 stages. Started off on some Matador wets on the front and Toyo's on the rear. Car didnt seem to be handling too bad but had very little confidence in the conditions. They were using a couple of link sections which cut up badly i.e. first stage we were on the sumpguard. After that we had to tiptoe through to avoid beaching the car and the main holes some of which involved just cutting across the grass.
As the morning carried on every time i thought of changing the tyres we had more rain.
After 4 stages i bit the bullet and swapped to soft Yoky's A021 on the front. What a transformation.
All of a sudden the car seemed to be doing what i was asking it to and started to gain confidence.

We had a few moments but started to enjoy the event. They used a perimtre road frm Lodge corner down to by Old Hall? which we loved as it was more like a forest track but wasnt cutting up at all.
Took it careful through watersplash first time to get a feel and then after that we didnt worry about it.

Last stage was supposed to be completed by 6pm so wethought they would cancel it. we wewre still in the service area t 6:20 but they ran the stage. Dont know how they wangled that but i'm not keen on driving in the dark.

Overall liked the venue, will probably go back, not good at taking chicanes, need to be braver, play around more with tyres. My favourites were probably the run from old hall down to shell oil corner.
Struggled with Britens, always felt as if i should carry more speed into it, and then Hislops , knickerbrook and up to Druids, need bigger bits than i have for that one.

Ended up 59th O/A and 8th in class. Dissapointing result in all honesty. Need to pull my fingerout for the next one or jack it in.

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the event Adie.
Sounds like you made a good decision on your tyre choice later on.
I suppose no two events are the same.
Chin up, see you at Rockingham. :D

Keep the Alfa flag flying mate, I know how it can get a bit down at times, you've had some trials this year but you're doing what most of us wish we had the gonads to do ;)
