2 Racers for sale

Post by LooLooSud33Spider »

Due to health reasons my very good friend Nick Anderson is having to hang up his race helmet for good. As a result he has at least 2 race cars for sale
# 1. Is his well known lightweight 33 running a very well sorted 8v that has not been raced since a full rebuild by Dave at Brunswick. The 33 comes with wets and slicks and a covered trailer. OIRO £4250.

#2. Is his Zoe Yellow 916 Spider 2.0 TS
The car meets full Twin Spark cup regs and has only done 2 events since I rebuilt the engine last year .
The spider comes with a few spares including an engine, gearbox and driveshafts. and a spare set of wheels Included in the asking price is a superb Dastle racebox covered trailer.
OIRO. £6750 (the trailer is worth that in its own)

Interested parties should PM me and I’ll pass on Nicks number and you can deal with Nick directly.
Both cars are based in the Harlow area.

Lou.

Ha ha thanks Lou, yep we’re hoping for a bit of noise and fun, however with a bit of creativity the exhaust has been made leak free for the time being.

Well we (my son and I) were due to do a track day at Castle Combe on the 18th March but it was sold out when we went to book it but there was a place left for one on an earlier event on 9th March so we nabbed that.

We got the 33 into the garage and found water contamination in the oil, the rear dampers were gasless and as Lou pointed out the exhaust had more leaks than a leaky thing.

We therefore burned a load of midnight oil during the past two weeks getting the exhaust and dampers sorted and spoke with Dave Ashford at Brunswick Racing who had built the engine regarding the water issue.

He advised that there had been a batch of problematical head gaskets where water could seep into the oil drain so four oil changes later and with the addition of some K Seal to the water circuit no water was to be seen in the oil system.

We also got ourselves tied into a bit of a knot the night before the event when we found that the new tyres we fitted fouled the rear suspension trailing arms but juggling with different rims and spacers we got it sorted (at about half past ten at night).

The forecast was dry for the day however we arrived in the rain which lasted on and off for the next two hours.

This made the track slow and we found that the car doesn't like slow. As this was a shakedown day and I didn't want to bin it my son drove the car and I chatted with some of the racers and Dave Young of Mek Motorsport - a real boxer enthusiast - who gave us plenty of sound advice.

As the track dried and the car got faster it really came alive and it ran faultlessly for the five sessions we ran during the day.
We also let one of the Castle Combe saloon car club racers have a go and he said it was the most fun he had had on the circuit in years.

We attracted loads of attention and the organisers, Slip and Grip Automotive, who are Alfa nuts, shot a promotional video with the 33 and my Sud during the lunch break which I will point you to when it is finished.

The plan is to do another track day soon and then look for a suitable race to run it in with a view to doing a proper season next year.

If Nick Anderson gets to read this then thank you so much; we had a fabulous time, the car is an absolute animal and great fun and we can't wait to get to use it again.

The 33 was the bargain of the decade, even with the niggles. Looks and sounds great on the vid clips.

We took the 33 to Castle Doom again last week - can you see these videos?

Unfortunately the exhaust ate itself mid afternoon so we are up to Shrew’s in early July to get a new manifold and system fitted.

Thanks

After two years of track days we took a deep breath and stripped the car down for a refurb,
The engine and gearbox are with Dave Ashford for refreshment. The shell has been strengthened with replacement of the cills, tieing in the cage throughout including extension and triangulation to the front strut mounts. Suspension components have been refurbished too. The shell has been repainted and we are expecting to plug in the drivetrain soon. The plan for 2022 is more track days and a couple of races.

Thanks for the message, we are still rebuilding it due to Covid related delays with parts and the engine refresh, just the electrics to do now. I’ll post some photos of progress next week.

We’ve been using our black Sud for track days this year and are looking forward to getting the 33 out next spring.

All the best Alfisti.

Adam
