So Testing at Anglesey went ok.
The car still feels very nimble and now has plenty of grunt. We have a few niggles to deal with now post test.
The car startled to run a bit hotter than I’d like so we’re looking at temp management for both oil and water.
During the sighting laps for the second session in the afternoon we had a reduction in oil pressure so we decided not to continue as we’d learnt what we’d gone for and nowt fell off. we’ll be looking into the oil situation and I’m hoping that it’s just because we were running the std spec oil. Apparently these engines are prone to low pressure when you start to drive them hard. We’ve been recommended a superior spec oil by a Coupe guru but I will probably pull the sump off just to make sure we haven’t got a bigger problem.
Brakes were good apart The EBC red stuff pads that came with the callipers were giving up after a few laps so we’ll be changing to Carbon Lorraine. And I’ll bleed the system again.
All being well we still like to make the Snetterton race in October.

Glad to hear the testing went well.
Sounds like you are on target to achieve what you are hoping for, still agile and more performance.

Hi Keith . Yeah Anglesey (or. Ty Croes. Trac Mon) is a really pretty venue with some stunning scenery . As for the track it’s a Fabulous circuit. It really flows with some decent speeds being achievable and with lots of room with the track being nice and wide we’re running TOYO R888 and had bags of grip. Sadly we had a problem with Loss of oil pressure. I’ve now got the Sump off and it’s done for the crank on both mains and big ends. Luckily I’ve got a spare engine which I’ve started to check out today and swap it next week. we’ll then rebuild the other over the winter and may even build it to a higher spec and aim for 400- 450hp .

Sorry to hear the engine has gone bad. Good luck with the swap over.
That is some serious power figures you are talking about if the rebuild plans go to a higher spec
At least you have done the hard graft and know it all fits together and works.

Broken Engine out and new one in just a few loose ends to tie up over the weekend and should be a runner again.
May look at another track day before the year is out but we’ll have to see how it goes.
Next trip out will be to the local weigh bridge to work out the power to weight ratio.

Anglesey looks great, but a long journey for me.

Good luck with new engine, what do you think the coupder will weigh , about 1200kg ?

Hi Tim
Yeah it’s about an hour an half for us but then Brands or Snett are 3 - 4 hrs for us
On a nice day I have to say Anglesey is an incredibly picturesque circuit with stunning views over the sea. But this also means it can get very very windy
In fact when we arrived to test recently we parked up in the paddock just as a storm blew in and I seriously thought the camper was going to get blown over it was that bad we had a big sheet over the car with big ratchets straps to stop it blowing away . It was like that all night and then 1/2 an hour before signing on the sun came out and it was a lovely day.
As for weight we reckon it’ll be around the 1200 kg range but I want to get an accurate figure for class purposes.
I’ll let you know

So I’ve swapped the Engine and the thing runs again. Just got a few things to check but I’m hoping it’ll be ok when Things settle down.

Lookin' good :)

Obvious I guess and no doubt you've already checked, but worth checking the baffling in the sump's sufficient since it's no doubt handling considerably higher cornering forces than it normally would?

Thanks for the words of encouragement Guys. The new engine sounds sweet so we’re hoping the oil Smoke is a result of a long period of hibernation . That said I still intend to rebuild the old engine this winter which I’ve completely stripped down . Engine swaps are not a massive job now due to some modifications I made to the chassis so if its a problem I’ll deal with it over the winter.
The old engine is going to be rebored to suit max oversize billet JE pistons. I’ll balance all the rods and the crank will be ground 1st undersize and then nitrided.
We’ll fit a Lightened TTV flywheel to accompany a Paddle clutch. I’ll do some simple porting work on the head and rim flow the valves. We’ve already had the ecu rechipped to stge1 but there is room for improvement to stge2. We’ll be reviewing the boost control system with the possible addition of a programmable boost controller . The car showed so much promise at Anglesey we think it’s worth developing. Our aim is to have a reliable 350hp .

The Ade I’d still like that fuel tank we spoke about. :D

That is going to be quite a weapon on the track when you build the tuned lump for it. Sounds pretty good in stock form.

Forgot to mention I’ll be speaking to some cam companies Dave Newman, Piper, Kent etc about reprofiling some cams for me aswell . I’ll do a that at the ASI show in Jan/Feb
I want to retain hyd lifters as we won’t be relying on high revs to deliver the power and it save a lot of messing about.

Ok so the New Turbo is fitted. And the car is now all back together and running sweet.
Next step will be to arrange a little track time to shake it down again and test.
