As previously mentioned John “Scuffy” Myerscough raced an ex ARDT sud in the early 90s. The car was loaned to him. As he was Westunes sales director I helped look after the car for him at events. Sadly the car saw it’s demise at Donington when he went off at red gate

After this I remember stripping the car of all useful parts which were returned to The dealer team and the shell was disposed of.

Scuffy, never one to do things by halves, that's certainly a mess.

I've got it in my mind that John sweet talked me into buying a car at Cubleys of Ainsdale he must've gone there after Westune?

He did indeed. After Westune closed down in 1985 John went to Cubleys but he still lived in Horwich. He use to drop parts off for to us when Me and Dad restarted Westune as an independent specialist.

I found this photo of my old racer being sold on eBay for the princely sum of £2.50! Cars in the background are John Liddle's Sud and Pietro Caccaviello's 105 series 2 litre GTV.
It was taken at Silverstone in October 1984 at the 750 Motor Club 6 Hour Relay Race.
AROC entered a team comprised of me, John, Pietro, Nick Sismey, John Timpany and the late Paul O'hanlon. We ended up 5th on Scratch, I can't remember what the result was for the Handicap event. The handicapper always used to clobber us heavily in relation to some of the other teams despite Michael Lindsay's appeal for a bit of leniency.

The grid was an eclectic mix of machinery from tiny Austin 7s through all sorts of sports racers to lightweight Aston Martin DB5/6s.

A notable competitor was regular tin top racer Gerry Marshall in his Dealer Team Vauxhall Firenza who was always good fun in the bar afterwards.
