Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
Hi Simon,
Shame about your puncture in race two.
I wasn't expecting to see Stephen Primett's Escort there at the start nice avoid !!
You have some good fun with those Minis.
Thanks for posting the clips up.

Hi Keith,
I enjoyed it a lot. I saw Steve Primett afterwards and he had broken a half-shaft.
Loving learning the circuits and trying to improve. Still top of the class D (1600cc) leader board but only just. Tony Crates in his Mk2 Cortina is only just behind me on points.

Hi Keith,
Tony and I swopped places a couple of times at Rockingham and he was very close when we crossed the line.
This is his video showing me trying to keep up with Malcolm.

That is good footage to watch.
It is nice to watch your cars from a third party as well.

Hi Keith,
You might find this footage interesting from Sunday. Its from the Capri that got bumped and ended up sideways across the track.
He works his way through virtually the whole pack of cars to finish 3rd. I appear in the distance about 9min 30 secs in to the video and he goes past me with great ease.

Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
Cheers Simon they are a good watch. I didn't realise the Camaro went off as well as the Capri.
Loved watching the 2CV's as well. They were great at Cadwell Park, even if the pace is a little slower.

Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
The punt on Stuart's Capri looked unnecessary and avoidable, probably as much luck as judgement that everyone missed him.
Some good luck in the other vid as well, hitting the gravel down the hill results in a good chance of rolling.

Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
Some amazing recoveries from incredible angles by the 2CV drivers.
I felt for the guy that rolled in the gravel because he happened to be sliding sideways when he got to the gravel.
I also felt for the Golf Mk2 driver that hit the inner tyre wall at speed. I was walking back from the pit garage area when the recovery truck went past with the Golf on the back. The front offside was completely wrecked.

Simon

Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
Will be off to Lydden Hill this Saturday with the CTCRC. Looks like it will be a good turn out with the pre 83 cars having their own grids. The Trofeo, Sprint and SC should all be there, unsure about the Golf at the moment.
Qualifying + 2x races all on Saturday.
As luck would have it that leaves Sunday free to stop by the Festival Italia at Brands Hatch!
http://www.festivalitalia.com
I have put the SC into the Italiano v's Inglese Allcomers races. Quite a few Ferrari's in there so I am expecting to be the obligatory floating chicane!
I have invested in some video equipment and new memory cards so fingers crossed I might have something on them that I can share with you all this time.
All the best,
Malcolm

I went to Lydden once, it would have been easier to go to spa from Hull !
Enjoyed it though, small but fun to drive, you'll have a great weekend.

Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
Hi Guys,
Lydden was an experience.
Had a massive off on the first lap of the first race because I failed to warm the tyres up enough and my driving skills were not up to when the back end let go. Lucky not to roll it, smashed their timing equipment and lucky not to be hit as I got ejected back on to the track. Car suffered just a bent flattened exhaust.
Dusted myself off and got within 5 car lengths of my oppo - the Mk2 Lotus Cortina.
Pulled the exhaust back into place and jubilee clipped it to the swinging arm mount. 2nd race was much better but took a whack from one of the leading Escorts as he lapped me. Just a wheel arch fairing cracked.
Lydden seemed to be hard on the car needing 2nd gear on two bends and my 2nd gear synchromesh is now shot. Also started popping out of third.
So, battered and bruised after Lydden.

Simon

Hi Guys,
Sunday was Festival Italia. Keep in mind the poor old car. The challenge is no 2nd synchro, popping out of third and you will see it doesnt like fifth either.
Lots of the cars were highly modified and they listed the car as 1600 in the program so we had a reminder on the back of the car for the competitors.
Now see Ted in action - absolutely brilliant:

Awesome drive.....I can only dream of driving like that. Great lap times.
The engine spins up so freely Simon, I'm sure Ted used full revs but it still picks up very well through the gears. Did you fit a 1200ti box in then end ?
Note to self : Need to practice heel and toe....

I don't care that my tea got cold, that was awesome.
That poor little Trofeo must be exhausted after that weekend.
Thanks for the clip Simon, and thanks for the ride Ted.

Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
Hi Tim,
It has a close ratio gear set. Not sure if it is Bacci or Colotti. The final drive made it run out of revs in fifth at about 85mph as it was set up for hill climbing.
We put a 1.5ti final drive in it for circuit racing.

Hi Keith,
Poor little thing needs some TLC after getting abused by me at Lydden. Must try and learn how Ted does those gear changes. He gave me some great feedback on damper settings and discussing the handling characteristics etc. Something I have to learn to do to give feedback to Tom.
Hi Bryan,
Not sure I want to post my Lydden video. I crunched 2nd gear every time I used it!

Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
Hi Keith,
Yes it is.
I have quite a few pictures of my Trofeo at Rallys or Hill Climb events. I was told that nearly half the Autodelta Trofeo Suds were used for Rallying.
I like this picture because I bought the car from Campobasso. Its number plate when I bought the car was one of the oldest in the town being CB for Campobasso and number 8.
Brgds,
Simon

Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
I'd hazard a guess at April 4th 1982....
Giulietta JTD 170
Lancia Delta integrale
Lancia Flavia coupe 1.8 1963
Lancia Dedra turbo
Renault Clio 197 RS
I'm bad with people things
But I should have tried more
