When I went to try starting the car up a couple of weeks ago it was really off song, only seemed to be running on one cylinder. Didn't have time to look at it then and have been since wondering what could be amiss, and fretting over what was ahead...
Turns out after a few checks it was simply the float stuck on one carb and a blocked jet on the other, so probably was only on 1 cylinder!
Runs a treat again now, will most likely benefit from continued running and some more fresh fuel, I'll get 2 or 3 gallons of super tomorrow and add them to the tank, give it a boost.

little bracket fitted in place.....
it holds up the back end of the carbs..
we have decided that trumpets without the large airbox (gauze guards will be added) is the way forward, just for that throaty sound
that means that the rear of the carbs hasn't any support putting stress on the rubber mounts.
I made up the little bracket so it would link up with the original one rather than get rid of that so that in the future the airbox can go back on if needed
also the fuel lines are now where they should be and all clipped up. meant removing the servo/master cylinder again to get the fuel lines in the right place but at least now it's all sorted. I had put off cutting them to length until the airbox dilemma was finalized
as one of the choke mechanisms has a little play in the fitting it didn't quite return to the fully off position, the solid link bar is supposed to shut it off but with the play it left it on a little. so I copied the spring holder and made another so each choke has its' own return spring, works a treat
one side caliper had needed a sheared bleed nipple sorting out which I got back from the engineers this afternoon, so that went on along with the flexi hoses mounted into place
just need to make up a few more brake pipes once a slight issue over some fittings is resolved then it really is almost ready for an MoT...once the wheels are back from shrew and I fit the new tyres on of course..
had a look around the car and under the bonnet is almost done, but one item has been bugging me for a while. the bonnet light hasn't worked at all despite having power to it.
the terminals at each end had massive resistance, in fact they were both reading open circuit!
looking at it it seemed to be a simple matter of riveted together items
one side stripped, cleaned and all fastened together showing good continuity
both sides done and now works a treat

bit more done to richs' fulvia, the brakes had been causing untold grief over the last couple of weeks, but all resolved now
wheels I collected off shrew Thursday night, freshly blasted and powder coated. new tyres went on and balanced with sticky weights just on the inside so the look nice and clean
so with the brake issue resolved and a few other loose ends tidied up it was finally time to bring the car back to my place. was only supposed to be sat at jims for a couple of weeks but things didn't go exactly to plan, seems ages ago that we took it there...just before Easter! whoops. jim is fine with it though, a really good fella to have on my side, thanks jim
back at mine where quite a few projects have ended up

steering wheel finally lined up now I've driven it, so horn push could go back on

Absolutely over the moon Keith, its great to see a car I acquired with all good intentions looking like it is..
This, I must say is only down the efforts of one man.. A legend in fabrication, welding and now painting! But also mechanical expertise.. We've had a few issues (only a few) that would normally have stopped the job but good old Kev perseveres and pushes on to completion..never an issue.
MITCAR could be a possibility, it certainly needs to be shown off this year, great looking car, and another Plowman job very well done!.

Yep good job done and a superb car.
Glad Lancia's are getting the recognition they deserve rather than hearing the dumb comments uninformed people that relate solely to the Russian steel era cars.
Some excellent ones at Goodwood this time. From the lowest Intergrale I have ever seen, 3 smashing Aurolia's and of course the mighty Stratos hammering up the hill.

The MoT is now booked for Wednesday at 1PM so with a bit of luck the end really is in sight....
With that in mind it's time to finish off the last few jobs.
The grille we'd been missing the top portion of, only became apparent when it was trial fitted! A meet yesterday Evening with Richs' Sister got the parts transferred down to me.
The rail was originally spot welded into place but with it being in stainless steel I didn't fancy trying to weld it, most likely would end up in a mess. As the fixings are hidden I took the decision to drill and pop rivet it together. Also needed a couple of captive mounting bolts making up and fitting in. Turned out well really.
Made up a top radiator mount and fitted that as it sits behind the grille, another of those little jobs that gets put off as not being important...until it is the last minute1
With that done the grille could go on. Transforms the front end I think, especially with the new number plate made up over the weekend by Rich.
The headlight bezels are only resting in place for effect, they will be fixed in place once the test is done so I can get the headlights aligned on the beam setter.
Washer bottle next to fit and plumb in. Washer pump that clearly ran due to the noise it made has actually turned out to be making a lot of noise and not much suck so I'll pick up a universal one tomorrow and fit it.

MoT this afternoon on the Fulvia, passed with flying colours, everything worked very well. even got to adjust the headlight aim whilst we were at it too

Finishing touches going on now.
Sill edge strips on with yet another door seal...
Headlight surrounds on, still got the Lancia shield to go in the grille but hoping it'll go on without taking the grille out again...
A few other little bits and pieces, tidying out the boot and fitting the trim back in place etc then as Richard has now got it all taxed etc it was only rude not to take it out for a little spin.
This location will be known to Mark as when his Sprint came to mine for a carb rebuild which led to an engine rebuild I took some pictures outside this little derelict shed
Ran lovely mostly, a little misfire which I think I've traced. Also solved along the way a potential power loss in the bob weights being fouled by the new rotor arm, a little recess ground into it to clear the distributor shaft regained the movement needed.
The car is wonderfully silent down the road, all those seals really do cut out the wind noise, down to a whisper....apart from the carb noise of course! Can see the time coming when the air-box goes back on to regain its' stately stature
No overheating or anything daft, no oil or fluid leaks, all looking good.

the final throws and the car was taken out for another little local run out this afternoon which saw the misfire gone, a faulty new spark plug was the main culprit along with another overlooked issue from myself.
took it out to a local village for some more snaps
lancia hub caps now fitted as the wheels are declared staying on...
a tweak on the idle speed when back home and time to wash off the dust
a ride up the road again to dry the brakes off, never leave a car parked with freshly washed discs....
the road sign I really ought to take more notice of!
storm clouds approaching...can't be hanging about...
that's just about it for the fulvia, Richard will be coming down in the next few days to collect it, and hopefully get it out and about this summer. it's been a testy one at times but thoroughly enjoyable to save another underdog and see the quality product that 70's Lancias' really were. thanks for trusting me with it mate

I will miss it greatly, seems like only yesterday that Rich sent me some pix and asked if I'd like to tackle it....but then so much has happened in the 18 months or so since then.
