Lanci Sibilo

Post by KevJTD »

i'm sure lauren will know of this concept car but i'd not heard of it until reading in this months octane magazine
a proper 70's colour which doesn't help the looks but it was apparently built on a lengthened startos chassis, not just any old stratos but a works rally one with full works suspension/engine etc
check out the bonkers steering wheel
pretty sure lauren will love the digital readouts too 8-)

Giulietta JTD 170
Lancia Delta integrale
Lancia Flavia coupe 1.8 1963
Lancia Dedra turbo
Renault Clio 197 RS

I'm bad with people things
But I should have tried more

You could have bought it for a measly 95k Euro when the Bertone collection was flogged off in 2011 - together with Stratos Zero, Lamborghini Marzal and Bravo concepts. Lengthened Stratos chassis, as Kev says. Later Gandini styling is not my cup of tea, but as Schliegelmilch pointed out in his excellent book, quite a lot cheaper than a standard works car!

(and still in working order too, unlike the Alfa Carabo).

I am actually quite interested in the mechanism for the opening porthole in the side window - something like that would work quite nicely in the Nova... interestingly, the mechanism was functional, I've just found a picture of the porthole open...

they mentioned the window in the article lauren, apparently their view on it was "only useful for toll booths, not for ventilation" :D

Kev do you reckon those wheels would look any good on a Sud,they are four stud. Shrew will either have a semi or be sick.

If they are Stratos hubs then the wheels would be 5-stud fixing.

A porthole that big has got to be good for ventilation as well - you could almost get your head through that!

Definitely bigger than the cat-flap sized window vents available through motorsport outlets...

All I have to do now is figure out how the mechanism works - looks like a slidey rail on a hinge...

You know me - only top techy talk from yours truly

I'm sure you will agree "slidey thingy on a hinge" describes the mechanism quite accurately!

Judging by the size of current Maccy D's I'd say easily - after all, the Sibilo portholes would have been designed for Italian fast food - pizza

I've been looking at the Nova side window apertures today and I think a porthole of about 15cm diameter is feasible - it would have to be near the front of the window and slide backwards though...
